I agree PBC gives them the illusion that they are looking out for their best interest. But look at what they are doing to Tank Davis. Who is Isacc Cruz? They protect their fighters too much and are difficult to deal with from a promoters point of view. They are the reason we didn't get the best Spence vs Crawford. If we get it now Crawford has seen better days and a post car crash/retina injury Spence. As a fan I don't see how PBC is any better than Top Rank. At least old Bob has been involved in making the biggest fights in history.

 

Floyd and Ellerbe are the culprits protecting Tank. And how do you not know who Isaac Cruz is? He's a top 10 lightweight.

 

His dad looks like an old school hustler/pimp. I'm always suspicious of coaching dads that never laced them up in their lives living vicariously through their sons. I get the feeling Kenny Porter uses his son's fame to get some young pussy .

 

I've watched Isaac Cruz fights. He's not a bad fighter. But Tank is a super star who should be headlining ppvs with bigger names at this stage. I think Tank has a short shelf life. Eventually he won't be able to make weight and will end up at 147 where his height and reach disadvantage will be too much against true WW like Ennis Boots and Errol Spence.

I think that's the separation between Bud and Spence. Bud appears to have an extra gear he can shift into when necessary.

Could be. Of course they both have more than one "gear" but perhaps while Errol might be a bit better in 1st and 2nd, Bud has more available on the top end.

Not to sound like the late Manny, but "just as I expected."

I feel like the numbers would have been a bit higher if this was the first big fight in awhile. People had already dropped money on buying Fury-Wilder and Canelo-Plant.

 

Crazy to think this was Crawford's biggest fight in the UK - in terms of how it was promoted to us, since I've followed him. Burns may have been bigger, but I highly, highly doubt it. Khan is massive here and nobody heard about this; and it only did that many buys?

 

Neither Bud nor Porter is a name in the US outside of hardcores.

Only three guys who are mainstream names in the US are Canelo, Wilder, and Fury.

Even Tank is a bigger name in the US than Crawford.

 

seeing other reports that it sold less than 150k homes. if these numbers are accurate then its a bad sign for seeing spence s crawford. spence will demand 70%

Lol no doubt Spence has some leverage there. Garcia vs Spence did 250k buys But then again Mexican fans always support their fighters so that may be some of Garcia fans turning up more than Spence's drawing power.

I'd take Crawford-Ortiz over Crawford-Taylor though.

Vergil has a better chance of pulling the upset than Josh has.

 

I think it's too early for either Boots or Ortiz to fight Crawford. Not that I don't like their chances, it's more that I like seeing a fighter climbing up the ranks the proper way, taking respectable and steady step ups along the way. Ennis, while clearly the best welterweight in the world, shouldn't rush into those fights yet. I'd like him to fight someone like Kavaliauskas or Avanesyan next, maybe even a guy like Danny Garcia. I'd be happy with DSG or David for Ortiz too, although I think a Garcia or Ugas would be best for Vergil before Spence or Crawford.

I dunno, I just like it when a prospect works his way through the process of becoming a contender, then beating good opposition to prepare themselves for the top dog. You don't get much of that these days.

 

I reckon Boots gets matched with Butaev next. That seems the logical next step. I figure that's why he was on the Butaev-James card.

For Vergil, I wouldn't be surprised if he gets matched with Connor Benn next year.

 

They'll never let Benn anywhere near Ortiz. He'll get absolutely slaughtered if they do.
