Don't know if anyone saw the official ShoBox highlights but it was like listening to somebody channel surfing with no more than 1 second on each channel. Awful.
I get what you're saying REED. A lot of people come up in the worst way/environment and become successful well adjusted citizens. It's either A. You learn from what you've observed and make damn sure you don't repeat it or B. See the life you have lived as how you're supposed to live. Anyhow, my point was his character, and I was aware he's been through some shit and yes, could be a factor on his character. I did NOT like how Tank responded to a possible rematch, however, if he fights a top 5 fighter in his next fight, cool. If he fights someone like Rolly next, it tells me he didn't want the rematch because he didn't like a little adversity and I start to believe it's not just Floyd holding dude back. As far as Floyd is concerned, hell yeah he needs to fuck off and let the man breathe and I definitely can see him taking advantage of Tank.
Man Mayweather and Smellerbe are by far the worst promoters. Tank is a grown ass man and has to answer questions for tank. Instead of talking about his fighter he goes on a rant about Ryan Garcia and Canelo who have nothing to do with Tank. I never liked Mayweather when he was a fighter and even less ass a promoter. People hated his fights because they were boring. Floyd needs to worry about promoting his fighters and stop trying to take the shine away from them.
The mental illness is strong with Floyd. He's incapable of removing himself from attention, incapable of letting Tank take the lead in a press conference, and incapable of answering any question without transforming the answer into a praise of his own career instead of Tank's. He's the most deplorable narcissist the sport has ever seen. He might be famous, but he'll never be beloved like Ali and Tyson, because those two had/have endearing qualities. There is NOTHING likable about Floyd. He's a detestable person.
Tank- Cruz 9 : 10 10 : 9 9 : 10 9 : 10 (37/39) 10 : 9 10 : 9 10 : 9 9 : 10 (76/76) 10 : 9 9 : 10 9 : 10 10 : 9 (114/114) I don't have much faith in this score. I watched it in a classroom and had to pause every time my tutor came near and the video was taken from the crowd. I found it hard to keep track of the mid rounds but it did look like Tank took a few in row. However, it was easy to see it was a back and forth battle, Davis'
But to be fair to Floyd, he is transitioning from a fighter to a promoter. It’s got to be tough to promote people you feel and probably can whip. Wait until Floyd hits about 50. RJJ use to be that way. Then became really good at taking his ego out of things once he got old enough to understand being old is real.
Roy at NO point was as narcissistic as Floyd. Never. Roy can have a full conversation about another fighter/fighters and stick to the topic. Floyd is incapable of talking about anything and not jerking himself off. Moreover, Roy is a good guy. The most anybody can say about him is that he has a big ego, but he's a good person. Floyd isn't. He's a piece of shit.
He is a POS but I remember rjj always injecting himself into fights he called. Took a while and a few KOs for that to stop
He injected him once in awhile, but definitely not on every telecast. Most of the time he injected himself because Lamps or Merchant would ask him how he (as a fighter) would handle such and such situation.
I had this a draw. I watched it at college yesterday, and I think it's a case of Cruz being underestimated than Davis being overrated. Davis could've run away with this one if he fought differently.
Cruz is still only 23. He's gonna have success at lightweight in the coming years as long as he doesn't lose dedication.
I was more impressed with Cruz than I was with Tank, especially given how not many gave him a chance and expected him to be another fodder for Tank to look good against. He showed great defense and was never really hurt in the fight, not even a scratch on him. He'll be a force to be reckon with if he keeps improving and staying focus. Tank has always been a flawed fighter but he's always guaranteed to be in a fun fight.
Good fight. Wasn't a stunning showing from Tank as it's not easy coming up against a guy who's shorter than you, compact and catching you with different types of shots in the pocket, but he did what he had to do and I think he deserved the win. Cruz came to win and deserves the credit he's getting.
They fought like what they are; guys with not much experience, not many rounds. I watched six rounds and that was all I could stand. And it would have been a good six round fight on an under card in the 70s.
