Best is IMHO in the top 3 of all time. He was physically much more robust than he appeared.. The ball he played with was much heavier. The fields he played on were like glue. He was routinely kicked.

When Pele came to England in 1966, he was destroyed.

    My top 5

    Pele
    Maradona
    Best
    Eusebio
    Moore

FYI, Moores performance vs Brazil in 1970 remains the benchmark for all Center Backs

    Best was certainly a genius.

And ill have to watch Moore vs Brazil in 1970.

Yesterday I randomly watched Germany vs Netherlands in the 1990 GC.

Jurgen Klinsmann was a terrific striker.

Great observations. Especially on Charlton, always rated him highly but having watched more of him myself over recent years I'm starting to become convinced he might be the greatest English player ever. Absolutely phenomenal footballer.

    Yeah, Charlton was badass.

Eusebio was a badass too. I see why he was compared to Pele.

Aye, Eusebio was a beast for sure. He practically carried that Portugal side to the '66 World Cup semi finals too. Especially the match against North Korea when they were 3-0 down.

Was watching an old Rangers-Celtic game. Davie Cooper was quite a fine player.

He was an absolute twat of a person, but prime Ashley Cole was without question the best left back on the planet imo. Absolutely loved his battles with Ronaldo, which he tended to win.

Great player, I felt bad for him that he couldn't make the '98 World Cup due to injury (I think he got the injury playing beach volleyball or something). Ronaldo and Rivaldo were brilliant in that tournament (with the exception of the final), but Romario alongside them would have been something else.

Watched an old Serie A game last night (circa 93).

Batistuta was a devastating striker. So was Giuseppe Signori.

Batistuta was awesome, and loyal to his club, which is a rarity.

The crowds at Serie A games look much larger and louder in the 90s than what I'm seeing today.

I'm gonna look for an old Spurs game because I always hear how talented prime Gazza was.

Watched a very rare match - Brazil vs Mexico at the 62 WC.

Just skip to around the 1:30:10 mark to check out prime Pele's goal.

    HOLE... E... FUCKIN.... SHIT.

The more veteran football fans on here can speak on this better, but I've never seen anything quite like that.

I'll direct this question to @Irish.

How good was Irishman Liam Brady?

Trippier's been an excellent player but only a club with more money than sense offer a 31 year old full back who relies on atheticism a 3 year contract at 100k a week.

A guy at work's daughter was singing at epiphany mass yesterday; he showed me some of what he'd filmed on his phone this morning. The priest begins: 'As you know, we're gathered to discuss the arrival of three auspicious travellers on this day. They came from the east, travelling great distances to a holy place. They brought with them rare and precious gifts to share. Yes thats right, their names are Daizen Maeda, Ideaguchi and Reo Hatate'.:duck:

True story. Not a great one, but true.

Brilliant. He's a rarity in Irish football circles in that his approach was elegant and technical rather than physical.

Guy could hit a ball without looking like he was trying to hit it. Most guys look like they are trying to wallop it.

Like those people you see hit the heavy bag and they are all whumpf whumpf whumpf :Jest:

Brady was so good he got headhunted by Italian sides and won the league with two of them, Juventus and Bari.

The biggest disappointment was how his career ended. First he was injured in 1988 for the Euros. Then, he made a minor error in an unimportant game and was immediately and unceremoniously substituted.... I think he quit after that.

Elegant technical player who could get into the Man City team today.

Agreed. By any estimation he's a 6 month stop gap to get them out of trouble......but he's also, automatically, one of the better FB in England now.

Yeah, I watched him last night when he was with Arsenal against Man U. Very elegant indeed and a superb dribbler.

Like I've stated before. I am always hyped about watching the Premier League. But along with that my interest is everything that touches the PL. The lower leagues (down to sixth tier,) the two domestic cups that involve PL clubs and the English teams playing in Europe.

This year's Everton squad have done it. For the first time since I started following in 2004, Everton are so fucking bad and so depressing to watch that I just don't give a fuck about any of that this season. I try to hype myself up for the cups. I can't do it.
