that's my beef with crawford. but not sure it explains his general lack of popularity. for example, davis also fights shit competition. but he seems to be a bigger draw than crawford (although davis almost always faces hispanic opponents).

I don't think Floyd would have ever crossed over into the mainstream if he didn't have Oscar around to beat, despite his undeniable talent. He was a superstar after that win. He became huge on this side of the pond too after beating Hatton in his next fight. Pac took the same route a year or so later. Sometimes it's all about timing and having the right guys around you. I don't think Arum is racist as much as he's lazy. Boxing is already a popular sport amongst Latinos. It's well known that Latinos love three sports: Soccer, baseball, and boxing. Arum probably has it in his head that Black Americans only care about the NFL and the NBA, and is too lazy at 115 years old to try and market to a different demo.
Arum has worked with Ali a very proud black man who would not compromise his integrity and work with a known racist. stevenson has a difficult style to deal with and guys arent gonna get paid big money to take the risk of lookin like shit. mayweather jr had to deal with it for the early part of his career.

i agree, even more reason why i see no issues with how arum is promoting the kid. these guys like stevenson and davis signed with him because of the ESPN deal, providing them consistent television dates while they develop early in their career. and due to top ranks track record in developing stars with mayweather jr, delahoya, etc. you start out there and once you have established yourself you can split and make the serious money.
