MLB, more than any other US sport, is dying. Even boxing has a brighter future in the US than baseball does.
A-Rod, Clemens, and Bonds don’t get in the HOF because of PEDs, but David Ortiz, who failed a test for a banned substance, gets in. What a joke.
It’s Because Big Papi’s LIKABLE and Emphasizes Why Grudge Holding WRITERS Shouldn’t Be Allowed to Vote On Shit Like This… REED
Its bigger than that, bruh. MLB is killing itself. Even boxing in the U.S. has a brighter future. Baseball is dying. Its terminal.
MLB Proper is Fine, But its American Appeal is Waning, Undoubtedly...w/That Said, There's ALWAYS Large Numbers of White American/Latin American Children Playing Baseball, and a Sprinkling of African American's for Good Measure... Baseball's a More VIABLE/SAFER Sporting Option Than Boxing Is and Youth Participation Numbers in Each Sport Validates This... Beyond That, a Baseball Player Like Fernando Tatis, Jr. is Already a Bigger, More Recognizable Name in Mainstream American Sports Circles Than a Guy Like Canelo Alvarez, THE Biggest Name in All of Boxing...Thing Is, Tatis, Jr's Only Been on the Radar for Like 2-3 Years... REED
I have no fucking clue who Fernando Tatis is. Haven't heard the name until just now. I know plenty of people who don't watch a lick of boxing, but at least know the names Canelo and Fury.
That's Because You Don't Know SHIT About Baseball, Apparently! Fernando Tatis Jr's Got AMERICAN Endorsement Deals w/Adidas, BMW and Gatorade...He Was Part of a Promotional Campaign w/Serena Williams and Damian Lillard, Despite Only Being 23 Years Of Age... REED Can Assure You, American Soccer Moms and Grandmother's Would RECOGNIZE Fernando Tatis Jr's Face Quicker Than They Would Canelo's...He's a CONSTANT Fixture on Mainstream Sports Channels (ESPN/FOX) During Baseball Season. PAINS REED to Admit it as a Boxing Fan, But FACTS... REED
bonds not getting into the HOF is just weird. dude was a HOFer prior to his PED use. perhaps the greatest ball player ever
That first sentence proves my entire point. I haven't followed baseball in nearly 20 years, but that should be irrelevant. I should know who the guy is. Hell, I dont follow the NFL much - but I know who Pat Mahomes is. So you don't find that weird? That i don't know Tatis? That's becsuse Mahomes is one of the most famous athletes in the country, and Tatis... is not... Let's rewind 23 years ago, when people who knew FUCK ALL about baseball allllllll knew who Sosa, Mac, Jeter, and Griffey were. Baseball has no stars, bro. Just face it. And thats not even just me saying it. Theres numerous videos on social media of baseball FANS complaining of this very issue. They aren't remotely close to the NBA and NFL in star power anymore, and once upon a time, that was unimaginable.
Popularity contest, and a bunch of sports writers sitting on their high horse of supposed moral superiority. Bonds was an asshole and the media doesn't like him. Period. If he had a lovable personality, they would have looked past the PED use. This actually makes the baseball HOF a BIGGER joke than the boxing HOF. The boxing HOF is a total popularity contest, but at least in boxing, GOATs are a shue-in, regardless of their personality and past.
REED, I just looked Tatis up on Instagram. He has like 1.4 million followers. Thats PATHETIC for a so-called household name. Pathetic. Canelo has 12x his followers. TWELVE TIMES! Please dont ever say again that Tatis is more famous than Canelo. He's not. And since social media is now one of the best indicators we have, its not even a BIT close. I had no fucking clue who he was, and if he was famous, even a baseball casual like me would know him.
Mike Trout is a name I've heard, only because people say he's one of the modern greats. The so-called face of the game. He has 1.9 million followers. Thats incredibly sad. "THE" guy in the entire sport having 2 million followers... pathetic. Canelo and Fury are killing Trout too among young people it seems. Even Ryan Garcia and Tank are killing him and Tatis. If Instagram were around in 1997, Ken Griffey would have 20-25 million followers, easy! Baseball stars are dead. Teams are still famous, but stars are dead and buried.
Kingry's bum ass has 8x the followers of this so-called famous Tati. Tank has MORE THAN double his followers. You've actually underrated the star power of our guys in the fight game. Turns out, famous boxers are a lot more popular than "so called" famous baseballers.
1st of All, What We're NOT Going to Do is MOVE GOAL POSTS...The Discussion was About the American Appeal of Baseball vs. Boxing, So the NBA and NFL Are of No Relevance Here... 2nd, the FACT You Acknowledge Not Having Watched Baseball in 20 Years FULLY EXPLAINS Why You've Never Heard of a Guy Who Just Completed his 3rd MLB Season... Funny You Mentioned Derek Jeter Because GATORADE, One of Tatis' American Sponsors OPENLY Says They've 'Found Their Next Derek Jeter' in Fernando Tatis, Jr....Let REED Know When Canelo's Doing Gatorade or Adidas Adds... Literally, You're in NO Position to Debate the Worth of Fernando Tatis, Jr. REED
REED, you're not getting it. Mainstream STARS are known to all fans - casuals and hardcores alike. You didn't address my point about the difference between the NFL and MLB. I don't follow either sport, but why do I know who Pat Mahomes and Lamar Jackson are, but don't know Tatis from a can of paint? That IS the problem! Guys like ME should know who he is. MLB has no real stars anymore, and is doing little to develop new ones. Shit, the fuckers don't have a season right now, let alone new stars. You're acting like I'm in the minority in saying this, but I'm in the majority. MLB is dying.
For the 50th Time, the Discussion YOU STARTED Centered on AMERICAN APPEAL... Couple Facts for You: Canelo is 31, Tatis is 23...Canelo's from Mexico, Tatis is from the Dominican Republic...Mexico's Population is Nearly 130MIL, the D.R.'s Population is Nearly 11MIL... The Population of Canelo's Homeland is Nearly TWELVE TIMES the Population of Tatis'...That FULLY Explains the Discrepancy in Their IG Numbers... REED Thinks AMERICAN Endorsements and Face Time on a MAINSTREAM American Platform Like ESPN's "Sportscenter" is a MUCH Higher Indicator of AMERICAN APPEAL Than an IG Count... REED
Tatis Jr. Has More American SPONSORSHIP, COMMERCIALS and Facetime on Mainstream American Platforms Than Tank, KingRy and Canelo COMBINED... That's an Undeniable FACT!!! REED
If you think ESPN is a higher indicator of any appeal WHATSOEVER than Instagram, then that's a real problem. You live in 1998. No one watches fuckin Sportscenter anymore. How many people are on Instagram as we speak? Exactly.
Because Your "Point" is of NO Relevance... NFL Is America's MOST POPULAR Sport by Light Years, Not Miles...There Isn't a Close 2nd to the NFL In American Popularity, So WHY Would MLB Be Compared To It???... YOU Made This About Boxing vs. Baseball and REED's Telling You, Fernando Tatis Jr. is a BIGGER STAR in America Than Boxing's Biggest Current Star Is... REED
See, You're RUNNING From Your OWN Original Point Now... AMERICAN... 95% of AMERICAN MEN Go to Sleep w/SPORTSCENTER or Some Form of ESPN Programming on Their TV/s, EVERYfuckingNIGHT...Just Because YOU Doze Off to Black and White Youtube Boxing Videos Doesn't Detract from This... IG Doesn't Speak for AMERICA...Again, American Soccer Moms and Grandmothers Will Recognize Fernando Tatis, Jr. QUICKER Than They Would Canelo Alvarez... REED
And your proof for this is?? Canelo packs Cowboy Stadium. Cowboy fucking Stadium. His PPVs always do big numbers, and when he fights, celebrities from EVERY industry Tweet, and many more are front row at his fights. How many celebs you see Tweeting about Tatis when he plays??? And how do you account for that fact that Canelo has 12x the followers? Twelve times! You think 11 million of his followers are from Mexico or something? It's not even a conversation to be had. I'm sure the 2-3 people I know who still follow baseball know who Tati is, but outside of them? I'd bet money they don't. Everyone I know knows who Canelo is. Everyone! And 97% of them ain't boxing fans.
