Fighters with underrated handspeed

Who are some fighters that usually don't get mentioned enough when it comes to handspeed? Pretty much fighters that people keep forgetting actually have some really fast hands in their prime.

People seem to forget just how fast James Toney can be when he let his hands fly. His hands were a blur, just a notch below RJJ.

Corrales comes to mind. His feet were ponderous, but his hands were very fast.

Also, Cervantes. Same deal as Corrales. Not the quickest feet, but explosive handspeed.

    tszyu maybe?

Tszyu gets credit for his handspeed. Whenever people mention positives about Tszyu, they always cite his power and handspeed.

I would add Laguna, because when talking the top speed demons OAT, he isn't mentioned enough.

Laguna had faster hands than Floyd, for instance. In fact, I think Laguna had the second fastest hands of any lightweight, behind only Camacho.

Kid Gavilan too. Wickedly fast hands, not mentioned enough.

Last one I'll add... Dick Tiger. Again, same boat as Corrales and Cervantes - not the quickest feet, but very fast hands.

Mark Johnson and Johnny Tapia had some blistering handspeed and showed fast combination punching. Such a shame that we never got to see those 2 duke it out, would have been a gun blazing war with lots of speed in display.

Louis is pretty known for his handspeed. Also, his handspeed was explosive for any era.

Tapia had much faster hands before he lost three years due to suspension.

In 1990, his handspeed was blistering.

Here's a fight on my page from a peak Tapia:

This is a really good one. Holmes doesn't get enough credit for his handspeed.

He damn sure wasn't as fast as prime Ali, but nevertheless, Larry had fast hands.

Worth mentioning because I just posted a MM involving him, Buddy McGirt had underrated handpeed. He wasn't Leonard or anything like that, but McGirt had fast hands.

Vincente Saldivar had very fast hands, and it doesn't get mentioned enough. Well, Saldivar in general gets forgotten.

Joe's feet were only ponderous as he got older. His pre title fights show he had fast feet and hands

Agreed. In the Braddock fight, for instance, he was pretty quick on his feet.

Saldivar was a little buzzsaw, extremely fast all round.

Marcel is another who is forgotten more in general, but he was extremely quick and fluid. Like molten silver in a jewelry mold. Everything he did just flowed through one another, but his hands was razor sharp and abnormally fast. I'd say the best instance is how easily he beat a beast like Shibata to the punch.

I always point to the Sharkey fight, first Pastor fight and his first round demolition jobs of Buddy Baer and Max Schmeling.

    Louis was patient, not slow.

    Same as Arguello.

Arguello gets sold short too. People have the image of the older Arguello against Pryor in their heads.

He was deadly quick at featherweight. But I would say that Louis was P4P quicker and more athletic than Arguello.

Yeah, Frazier and Tito were fast.

I think Ike Williams gets forgotten. He could really throw combinations.

Frazier's handspeed gets sold way short.

I feel like Felix gets mentioned a lot for having fast hands.

His Handspeed Stands Out vs. the Era of Guys He Faced...And Even Then, it was Single Shot Handspeed, Primarily...

Joe Louis' Name Almost NEVER Comes Up in "Handspeed" Threads, Which Makes Him Fitting for an UNDERRATED Handspeed Thread...

No, Louis looks fast period. And given the shitty quality of film at that time, he was even faster than the tape indicates.

And say WHAT??? Single shots?? How many Louis fights have you seen? We're talking the greatest combination puncher who ever lived. He threw wickedly fast combos, and there's a plethora of film evidence to back that.

QUICK Footwork Wasn't Exactly TOP of the List of Worries for Joe Louis Opponents, Being Honest...
