Agreed on both count, especially on the Golota part. I've rewatched his fightd against bowe not long ago, and was surprised at how much better he was than I rebembered him (mostly because he beacame a bit of a plodding eurostiff in his later years)

 

Or Pascal. These thress fools were very similar stylistically.

 

Pascal was kinda like a less fast, but overall better and tougher Berto.

i think pavlik was slow. that's the interesting thing about him....he was relatively slow but still good.

Hopkins definitely had quick hands and quick feet. Even in his early 40s.

Yeah for a white guy Kessler was quite fast, his handspeed won him the first Froch fight, as Froch was the stronger harder man. Kessler was able to keep beating him to the punch.

Then again Froch would make Kevin McBride look fast.

 

Kessler had actually slowed down too by the first Froch fight imo. His handspeed was indeed very good, as were his technique, timing, accuracy and punching mechanics. A really excellent straight puncher and stand up boxer-puncher at his best. He just struggled more when he couldn't control the range and people were faster than him, because he was a bit rigid, straight up and basic defensively and not the best at integrating his defence and attack, not comfortable with rough housing and sneaky infighting etc.

He actually started to improve a bit at blocking, slipping punches and countering post injury problems imo when he was physically way past it and shaky looking on his feet, which was a shame. If he'd been able to do that in his physical prime he would've been extremely formidable.

But the Olivares fight, for example, exhibits that he wasn't slow. He was actually deadly quick in his fight. Should be noted that he was only about 24 in this fight... people might be thinking about him from the late 70s when he had more mileage on him.

Vitali was a bit faster than he looked. He cheated by throwing Punches with only some of their power on them.

Freitas athleticism and quickness were definitely great attributes he had.
