One of my all time favorite offensive displays to watch. Gonzalez beat the brakes off of Carmona to lift a potion of the lightweight title, and did so in similar fashion to how Napoles dismantled Curtis Cokes - though obviously, nowhere near as brilliant as Napoles. Gonzalez was a helluva lightweight champion though. Would have been nice to see a unification between he and Duran, but obviously Gonzalez would not have have won. Anyway, here it is for those who haven't seen it:
Never seen Rodolfo Gonzalez fight before but the minute I saw the start of this I immediately thought of Jose Napoles with the smooth style, patient stalking, and nice offensive showing. Really loving what I see of him so far. What other fights from him would you recommend?
I'd have loved to see him with either Carrasco or an aging Mando Ramos. They'd have been awesome fights. The two fights with Navarro sound like wars, and I seem to remember his fights with Ishimatsu being pretty good.
No, not that I'm aware of. As it understand it, Gonzalez was giving a good account of himself, but got stopped on cuts.
