An injured pigeon came into the garden today. He was soaked and couldn't really fly.

I fed him some of that seed hovis bread, then I put him on an old ivy covered wall. Our dogs would have killed him. Nature's brutal. Hope he makes it.

4th time getting one in two tries

 

I think my first perception of a class divide as a wee kid was in pigeons rather than humans.... all the pigeons around notre damn where my rich cousin went to school were always plump, pristine, preened then youd walk down to partick underground and they all looked like pigeons sketched by quentin blake in a rush, feathers in ten directions, limbs and eyes missing.

That said my streak is 8 or 9 now, I'm improving.

I'm also playing Worldle, it's where they give you an outline of a territory or a country and you guess it.

If you're wrong, they tell you by how many km and in what direction.

Rather than trying to always start with the same word i mix it up so sometimes i get a bit lucky. It's generally better than finding out you have an 'e' or an 'r'. Even if they happen to be in the correct place there's still a whole lot of possibilities.

Sometimes it backfires though. Yesterday if i would have started with something common like 'arise' i would have got the answer aroma much more quickly than on the very last try.

I use the words "Chase" and "Optic" to kick it off. If I've got 3, 4 letters and only two spaces left, I just stop and think properly for a few minutes.

I lost once when the answer was pasta and I went with tapas

I got excited and ignored the placement I was so convinced I had the word .

The tricky ones are those that use a letter twice. I got one wrong practicing on some wordle archive site i found. I don't recall which letters i had correct but in the end the answer was VIVID.

Another thing i do is not get too hung up on guessing words all based on whether i have a letter correct. For example my first word was was trick and it reveals the 't' is right i'm not automatically going to put in any random word starting with 't' next. Instead i'll use something such as shout. Obviously it can't be correct but if the answer was tough or touch it would be easier to see the next round.

Liverpool dominated the first half to be fair, although Inter hit the bar it was all Liverpool. Second half it was much more competitive but I've gotta say Liverpool always looked the more likely side to break the deadlock.

 

Liverpool are an insanely good side, I have to say. They would be winning trophy after trophy right now if City weren't around.

 

Expecting fireworks tonight, Bodo a Bielea esque kamikaze pressing outfit who come to attack. Might come as a shock to our system. Or we might run riot, assuming we're able to play through. Or both eventualities might take turns happening. From what i can gather they've lost a few starters from the team who beat Roma 6-1 but theyve replaced those guys like for like and still have the same manager, same system so i dont think the drop off will be too drastic. Otoh, they're not gonna be as match fit as us, so Im hoping that'll really start to tell in the last half hour. 3-3 after 60 minutes, 6-3 final score!
