Yeah, Froch didn't say anything outta line. Although, you can tell he's happy like the rest of us. No one likes the lil wanker from Bolton; plus, I think Froch and Brook have always been friends.
You could write a PhD thesis on Amir Khan (which is more than could be said for Amir himself, who probably couldn't write a postcard), so it is hard sometimes to write anything brief about him. So I'll just settle for this. Khan has had a good career, overall and relative to his skills, talents and natural ability. I've never quite understood why he is hated as much as he is, though I can definitely see why, in isolation, many people would dislike him. I enjoyed watching Prescott lay him out, too. That was because I didn't like being told that I was watching the next Sugar Ray Leonard when he was getting his face burst by the likes of Willie Limond. He is the very definition of the modern leap amateur: a boxbot with the IQ of a fencepost (as was decided on here many years ago) who relied on the only thing he had - fast hands and a decent body shot. And the 'rematch' with Kindelan on ITV had the stench of corruption to it as well, which left a sour taste for me. But, in the end, Khan won me over. He could have taken the easy route, walking away ala Naz at the first sign of trouble to spend his millions. But he didn't. He actually built a decent resume for someone who has perhaps the worst punch resistance of any professional fighter of the last thirty years. People want to talk about Brook being this and that but Brook has precisely one good win in his entire career. If anyone took the easy route, it was him. Khan's win over Maidana especially was a really good one. He came through fire to survive the end of that. He made for exciting fights because he was always one punch away from disaster. And he is a brave little bastard. He gets knocked down all the time and always tries to get back up (if he isn't unconscious). Even in the Prescott debacle he was desperately trying to get to his feet. And against Brook he could have quit but he didn't. He kept going in his own, limited way until eventually he was saved from himself. It isn't the first time a referee has had to do that. I hope for his sake it is the last. MTF
He always does. That's essentially the entire schtick of that Tyan Booth lunatic who posts the videos which take the piss out of Froch all the time. No matter what the topic, Froch will somehow get round to talking about the time he 'knocked out George Groves in front of 80,000 people at Wembley and made him fall on his own leg'. He's something else is the Farmer. MTF
A word on Brook, I don’t think he should mix it up with any of the up and comers. He too is on his last hurrah. Unless he’s getting a domestic showdown with Liam Smith, a fight with Keith Thurman, Danny Garcia, or a title shot against the Charlo-Castaño 2 winner, he should just retire, otherwise he’ll be a gate keeper.
Brook stands to go out like Khan. He's on a high now, but yes, realistically, his next fight needs to be a gimme dressed up as a real event. Is a Porter rematch totally out of the question? I mean Porter ain't exactly got options coming out his ass right now either. Battle of the Bud/Spence losers.
Last I heard Porter is officially retired. And I doubt a Brook rematch brings enough money for him to come back. Brook has a few potential options but I don’t think Porter is one of them.
I see Brook-Benn happening next year. Think it's more realistic to make than Brook-Eubank Jr and makes more sense.
Even though Brook isn't what he was 5 years ago, his only three losses have come against 3 elites. He would be the ultimate litmus test for Connor.
agREED... The Chris Algieri KO was Attention Grabbing...It's Like "Okay, I'm LOOKING Now, What NEXT??!!" A Win Over Kell Brook Would Show Connor is a Bit More than JUST Nigel Benn's Son, at the Very Least... REED
I would expect that Kell would go in as the betting favorite, but I would probably go with youth to prevail.
True UK Crossroads Matchup... If Connor Benn Attacks Kell Brook HALF as Aggressively as he Did Chris Algieri, It'll Be a VERY Fan Friendly Fight...Even in his Losses to GGG, Spence and Crawford, Brook Started Rather QUICKLY... There'll Be Fireworks "Early Doors" for Sure, if These 2 are Paired... REED
Conor sucks. He's just a good athlete but not a good boxing technician at all. He's getting KO'd soon.
There's about six better match ups at LHW with Smith, Johnson, Buatsi, Richards, Arthur and Yarde. Ryder vs Parker at 168 is a better fight. Taylor vs Benn is a better fight IMO. At 154, there's lots of better fights. Cheeseman vs Williams II, Smith vs either of them; Fowler vs any of them; Fitzgerald vs any of them; Brook vs any of them; etc Woods vs Conlan is better. So would be Warrington vs either of them, and even Galahad vs either of them. Edwards vs Harris and Yafai are better fights. Benn is massively overhyped and Brook is at the end. This isn't the best fight that can be made.
Euwank jr is delusional. Brook "stole" the GGG fight from him. Fuck off. He didn't sign on the dotted line when the fight was offered to him. Euwank should also be embarrassed calling out smaller guys.
I'm amazed how that dope even gets the time of day off people. He's flat out lost the two biggest fights he's had. His biggest win is over a totally faded Chunky DeGale. He's waiting for GGG to get so faded that even Euwank can beat him. It's sad. Go take the fucking Canelo fight at 168 tomorrow if he wants a challenge.
And yet if Benn vs Brook was made tomorrow it would be huge news over here and rightly so. We'd all watch it.
Yeah, that's the thing with Euwank...he calls out GGG, he says he wants the best at 160, but he's all talk. He'd rather fight washed up guys and so far that's all he's really done (bar Saunders and we know what happened there). He says he'd take the Canelo fight if it was offered to him and the price was right, but he would price himself out of it. He thinks he's worth more than he is. He is delusional. He actually is living off his Father's name.
It would be huge. It may not be the best fight to make, but I do think it's a fight that makes sense for both guys to take. A crossroads fight as mentioned above by REED. Why not at 149 like Khan-Brook.
