Not to DOGPILE, But REED Would Tab Ugas and Porter as SLIGHT Favorites Over Josh Taylor Also...

Taylor AIN'T Beating the Ugas that Faced Pac and Porter...& Taylor's SKIN vs. Porter's HEADBUTTS/ROUGH HOUSING Is a Dicey Ass Proposition Also...Taylor Marks, Swells and Cuts in Virtually EVERY Fight...A Porter Bout Could Be a BLOODBATH in That Regard...

Taylor Is/Was THE Guy @ '40...Given the Right Set of Circumstances, Taylor COULD Acquire a Belt @ '47, But He'll NEVER Be THE Guy @ That Weight...

And just based on how easily Josh handled him in sparring, I'd make him favourite over Ugas. I know a real fight is different to sparring, but Josh knows how to handle Ugas.

If he stays at 140, he gets taken out in his next fight. 100%. Either in a Catterall rematch, or fights with Lopez, Matias or Zepeda.

There’s no way Taylor won that fight.

Catteral won at least 8 rounds IMO. Add the knockdown and both point deductions cancelled each other out. The only thing he failed at was getting the KO over a finished guy in front of him.

Taylor will of course say he’s dead at the weight but I honestly think that 147 lbs isn’t a promising proposition for him. He’s gonna be small at that weight. And he doesn’t have much power to get anyone’s attention.

It might not even take a Crawford, Spence, Ennis, or Ortiz to take him out. He could potentially get caught slippin against somebody in the top 10.

    Bud-Taylor is a mismatch.

Johnny Nelson says the judges shoukd be brought into a room on their own, the fight played back and they get told "OK pal, how did you score this round, and why"....

I've killed myself making weights (144lb) and I can tell you when you get hit yiu just don't respond well. You've no coordination. I'll give Taylor one more chance.

I cut weight with some mad electrolyte (?) pills for a kickboxing tournament when I was like 13 and it was the worst experience I've ever felt. Lost almost 15lbs in two days.

I just had this fitness bug. It was 20 years ago. I knew Tszyu was 140lbs. So I said I'll do that and I'll dwarf the other guys.

I couldn't even see punches coming. I had no speed.

I'm way way faster at 240lbs than at 140lbs.

So im giving Taylor one chance to prove it was the weight. He's so unlikeable that's all he's getting.

REED Has No Doubt Josh Taylor Had TROUBLE Making Weight...Thing Is, '47 Is One of the Deeeeeeeeeeeper Divisions in Boxing, Historically...

In fairness, historically, 140 is also extremely strong. It's just not as good today as welterweight is today. However there have been entire eras at welterweight which have essentially just been junior welterweights looking for some better money.

After Oscar Vs Tito, 147 became an endless merry go around. It was like Italian governments. And a lot of it was former 135/140lb guys pressing the action. Mosley, Judah, Cotto.

Armstrong's era was essentially just lightweights and junior welters fighting at 147 for the extra money.

Same with the early early days of the division, and obviously most recently with Pacquiao, Mayweather, Marquez, Mosley, Cotto, Hatton, Khan, Maidana, etc

    Ehhh???...

Leonard and Hearns were LEGIT Welters @ the Time...Benitez was 17 When He Won a Title @ Jr. Welter...Even Duran, a Naturally SMALLER Guy, Fought Successfully @ Several Weights Higher Than '47...

Sure, Dela Hoya Began His Career @ 130, But He DWARFED Guys @ That Weight...Trinidad???...

Not Shitting On Super Lightweight as a Division, But REED Would Say '47 Has Been BETTER Than '40 for Quite Some Time, Actually...

Looking back, Prograis shouldn’t have lost to Taylor. I don’t know if he was thrown off by the southpaw style but for a world level fighter, Taylor is extremely hittable.

Mosley Fought Ammy @ 132 Pounds, 1st World Title @ '35 and SKIPPED '40 Altogether as a Pro...

When a Guy Moves Up 2 Weight Classes For a Bout, as Duran Also Did for CHAMPIONSHIP Purposes, It's Because They've OUTGROWN the Division...The SIGNATURE WINS for Mosley and Duran were Both @ '47...

Taylor was clearly sharper against Reg than he was tonight. He took Prograis seriously. He definitely thought Catt was a bum.

Having said, I think Prograis is a better fighter than Taylor. And by better, I mean Prograis is more gifted. But, he shit the bed, and Josh simply out willed him.

Of course 147 is a deeper division. Welterweight is one of original eight weights and one of the better ones at that. 140 isn't competing with it - none of the bastard divisions are.

But there have definitely been eras at 147 where the vast majority of the top guys were really junior welterweights. We just finished one for example.

Armstrong's era was pretty much entirely former junior welterweights. Ross was a dominant champ at welterweight but his calling was at 140; he's the greatest junior welter ever IMO. Ross, Pancho, Zivic, Martinez, Manfredo, Day, Jenkins, Joyce, Angott, etc

All were either big lightweight or junior welterweights before their fights with Armstrong.

You have the Jack Britton era where he fought pretty much exclusively former lightweight contenders during his reign, and he himself was a former lightweight.

And the previous era with Floyd, Pacquiao, Cotto, Bradley, Maidana, Guerrero, Khan, Provo, Ortiz, etc

I now seriously wonder if Josh could take a prime Khan.

Khan was fucking good against southpaws, and he'd be nailing Josh at will.

Taylor doesn't have the fight ending power Garcia had.

I think Khan might have taken him.

This might sound daft but I never believed Scotland , of all places, had produced a legitimate all-the-belts borderline PFP guy in the shape of Taylor. I never ever believed that. He's just a massive 140lb guy who imposed his size and power on the opposition and is on his night a live dog Vs the others. People like Floyd and Tszyu would have lit him up badly and Hatton mugs him.

He'd have taken him tonight, for sure, but Khan has had a few nights where Taylor might have drowned him too.

I heard several people in the last 2 years say Taylor takes a prime Tszyu.

I called bullshit the whole time.

Tszyu would have fucking buried Josh in a shallow grave.

The styles favor Khan. He dominated every southpaw he faced with the exception of course, Crawford, but Bud had the intelligence to fight him orthodox.

Taylors so unlikeable it's hard to not hope he gets burst.

He's just a guy with belts, to me, and after tonight he shouldn't even be that.

Jose Ramirez must be scratching his head

Overall, my opinion hasn't changed all that much on whom I think Taylor beats, cause I never thought of him as generational guy.

Coming into tonight, I thought he was undecided against Fimo. I still think that matchup is undecided.

As good as Khan was with lefties Tszyu ate them right up.

Tszyu might drop 1 round and then start getting the big rights off.
