Saturday on Showtime. Tszyu should dominate. Gausha blows. I'm guessing the plan is for a Charlo vs Tszyu matchup to end 2022.
Lets see if Tszyu 2 manages to keep it together. He's got a lot of positives, but his chin hasn't been checked yet. I agree Gausha should be easy meat but hey..... You'd assume Tim has got his old man's chin....but he hasn't quite got his old man's concussive power - his brother does though.
As of now I still think it's highly likely Tzsyu's a fraud. He was matched very selectively so far and while he has some abilities, it seems he also has a lot of glaring flaws a crafty fighter could take advantage off.
I've never seen a son MORE of spitting image of his pops than Tim and Kostya. Nothing similar about their looks. Tim looks JUST FUCKING LIKE his ole man. Kostya's genes are strong as fuck.
From what I've seen he's heavy handed. The one thing he absolutely lacks is the type of handspeed his ole man had.
The son (T) looked kinda ponderous and mechanical to me, but I haven't seen his last two fights, wasn't too interested.
Yeah I'd agree with mechanical, not so much ponderous anymore - he's working super hard and is a different guy now, much more fluid. One big thing he has that his old man had - that timing/accuracy. He's got great eyes Still, chin is a question mark - he's never been hit with a big overhand or left hook and had to recover. He might lose his shit, who knows. Also, lowish workrate like his old man - likes to have room to set things up. Still I expect him to blast through Gausha who isn't that stiff an opponent.
My big objection with the old man was, as mentioned above, the.....overly-considerate approach he had. Again MAG that's brilliant, you just potshot a slower opponent to bits. Same with old man Chavez and thunder-flash birdbrains like Judah. You get a tough 12 rounder with an energizer bunny guy like Hatton or Phillips and suddenly its a different story. Even Oktay Urkal, just a diligent tough jobber... and it's a different mattet albeit Zoo beat him up.. I'm not engaging in revisionism but I feel that guys who can't handle real real intensity and pace are always in a struggle where they can't take the dude out early. Hurtado was fragile and he got bombed out by Whittaker and he kind of demonstrated how dudes with a bit of mojo can find opportunities against that style especially where its applied recklessly. You stick a bit more balls and steel on Hurtado and Judah and Zoo would have had issues. That's where I see Tim coming undone. It doesn't even have to be laser precision, think Morales vs Pac, first fight, a tough, gritty guy who can let those hands go, refuse to give up space etc can do a job. I don't say the dude is a fraud, but I wanna see somebody a bit more geared up than Denis Hogan before I get behind him.
