With all the social media bullshit available today and with his charm and personality you gotta believe he'd be a billionaire no?
Speaking of which he'd probably be in movies too... has he been in movies back in the day? Seems like a natural fit
He'd likely have never gotten past the controversy if what he did played out in today's world. He'd have been hated for long, I suspect. Although, then again, if Fury can go from hated to loved, it's obviously not impossible somebody as charismatic as Ali could do. He'd be larger than life, though. No doubt about it. Boxing would benefit as a whole for decades because of it.
The only issue would be... aside from Fury the rest of the division is talentless personality less bums.... Ali wouldn't have many interesting dance partners
Ali IS around "today" but because "today" isnt today, instead of asking a police officer for boxing lessons , he'd be doing 20 yrs for shooting the thief, or the thief would have shot him.. ....besides, he'd be playing football or basketball which is where all the best American athletes are today , remember ..
I don't know about that. It's not like basketball or football wasn't a big thing in Ali's Era. Boxing as a sport has always had a target audience. Poor kids gravitate towards boxing as a way out of poverty. That hasn't really changed.
In Ali's time, Basketball or football were far from were they are right now in term of popularity/mainstream appeal. Nowaday, recruitment starts extensively in high school and any big guy with athletic abilities will get noticed. And even if boxing was their first choice (doubtful), no one with half a brain would turn their back on scholarship and mentoring those other sports offer (without the need to get hit repeatedly in the head to booth). No surprise boxing (especially at hw) is left with the rejects or those that couldn't cut it out. Just look at how nimble the NBA giants look compared to the ponderous oafs we got for hw. Sad to say but Ali would probably play basketball instead of boxing if he was born in this era.
Speaking of basketball, Twitter would destroy Ali worse than Floyd did when he fought McGregor if he actually got that Wilt Chamberlain fight
