Every defeat came in the first 6 games while playing youth team players, guys demanding a move, and trying to imprint a demanding, high risk new system on them. Aye, we signed a striker in january from japan called Daizen Maeda - technically he's nothing to mention about but the guy sprints at near olympic speed continuously for 90 minutes. He chases *everything* & is, without exaggeration, our best defender. Im not sure strikers like that really existed 25 years ago but its basically becoming a requirement for top teams now....in the same way goalkeepers with the ball playing skills of an average 90s centre half are. Its all total fitbaw at breakneck speed now.

My issue is that the foremost requirement for professional fitba note is now athletic talent. No-one can doubt the athleticism of the modern player. And they are coached properly. Teams are 'teams' now. They rely far less on individual talents.

My umbridge is that the talented, clever footballer has been almost entirely replaced by the athletic, well drilled automaton. It really isn't 'total football'. It is high speed, highly drilled collective movement.
