Absolutely. It would be a fight with a huge profile and one that the general public would be interested in too. It’s hard to remember in this era of PPV and multiple channels and social media just how big some of those British fights in the 90s were such as Benn-Eubank, particularly as they were on free TV, but I think there is a collective memory of that that would help sell a Connor Benn fight against a meaningful British opponent, specifically one who has just beaten up the highest profile British fighter outside heavyweight.
Great great post. I'm no Khan fan (was usually rooting against him) and I can understand how some people in the UK would be sick of him since he was probably way overhyped over there. But at the end of the day, he (mostly) took the hard road even though he could have made millions fighting cans in the safety of England. Plus, safe maybe for the Crawford fight, he always showed a ton of heart, which he was bound to display in dramatic fashion nearly everytime out due to his crystal jaw. This made him, in his prime, one of the few fighters I would go out of my way to watch.
Khan is not a street guy. Like most people he is just happy to give away his 30k watch and get out of there. Khan would never chase after the robbers and exchange gunfire like Forrest did. Forrest was a guy that you are not going to just rob and get away with it. I bet he would have tried his best to track the guys down if they got away and hit them up afterwards. He came across as the nicest guy but also the kind of guy you are going to have problems with if you step to him. It's not smart to go down to that street level but if that's who you are that's who you are. The three dude that did it are doing life.
He definitely isn't a street guy and besides the way these scumbags roll is always mob-handed. He'd have had 5 of them on him in nothing flat.
He shouldn't have, but Leyton has become quite the shit hole. I don't even know why Mr Vegas was down there. Probably family visitation. He'd stand out like a sore thumb. They'd have been waiting for him once it was known he was about.
Now Khan says it was a premeditated hit and he's given the name of the person he suspects to the cops. I hope it's NOT AJ.
Vernon Forrest was a dumbass. He wasn't killed in cold blood. He ran after the dudes with his own piece, and that's when he got gunned down. If he just swallowed his pride and realized that he's a celebrity and could easily replace what was stolen from him (a ring and a watch), he'd still be alive today. I mean, RIP to him and all, but he died because he put his pride and his jewelry ahead of his life.
Some guys are just impetuous. I had to check myself 15 minutes ago when I saw a kid on a bike stolen from the lane at the back of my house. Pride, ego, the desire to "not be a victim" etc, all just kicks in.. Its not worth it.
One of my first jobs out of the military was as store security. I had knives pulled out on me when trying to detain people. I honestly would just let them go and walk away. There was no money in the world worth risking your life for. Better not to try to be a hero and let your pride kick in.
Not to kick a guy when he's 6 feet underground but always did seem like the type of guy that was blinded by his pride. He came in the ring with a rapper all cocky and shit thinking he was going to walk right through Mayorga. Instead of using his superior boxing skills and natural height and reach advantages he fell into Mayorgas game. Lost his belt and ruined a possible super fight.
Big time, make more off that than I do off work. In seriousness, she's one of my managers, I've slept with her once and gone out with her twice. But yeah, breaking my wrist and having to spend two hours with the police and store managers wasn't really worth it.
Exactly, I could understand this kind of reckless behaviour if you're a kid with nothing to look for (still dumb though) but in Forrest case, it's mindblowing idiocy. Getting in a gun fight over some trinkets, while he was ''babysitting a 11 y.o boy . Hell, even if I knew I wouldn't suffer any kind of repercussions, I wouldn't want to kill another human being because he stole the equivalent of a couple of grands from me. Sad thing is that Forrest supposedly had a real good heart (was involved in helping kids with disabilities) but what a pathetic way to go.
Are you following the whole Amber Heard thing? Once a bitch gets loca, or the situation around her becomes inflamed, it's time to gently and quietly extricate oneself from the given situation. Extricate, Expedite. I respect the police up to a point but they really aren't going to help a dude out. They have way too many departmental political tripwire and they're not prepared to trip em for you or I.
Vernon should have kept it country..... Its hard to do these days, as we just saw the Tyson thing, so many people out there are just looking to have a go, get a rep, at your expense. The class of fucko is now wider than ever. Karen's, punk kids with some dipshit Gen X viewpoint they picked up on school, do-good community assholes, traffic wardens looking to make bank and think they've got some "important" job, all of them.. Then there's the follow on shit where you have the people you've "interacted" with give some bullshit version of events to their friendos and neighbours and suddenly you're getting *the look* in the street. And that just leads to more aggro and you feel even more like somebody's face needs to get broken. Not worth it. Be like Gary Cooper in High Noon. Strap up but let them draw first and then fuckin hit em.
In fairness, I got really lucky that night. I knocked a lad out, on camera, while at work, when he had literally fifteen lads with him. To get off with no punishment from the police or work, without getting my head smashed in by a massive group of lads, is pretty much the best thing that could've happened. Broke my wrist, though. The only reason I had to stay for hours was coz I needed to conform my identity, and file statements and incident reports. I also had to explain my past as a young offender and have it confirmed.
I have never needed to have my reputation as a young offender confirmed. People know who the fuck I am.. Seriously though you sound like you got away with one there. Regards all the "Afters" and paperwork, they call that "the ride" and the ride is always worse than the rap. Its set up that way. Make yiyr life hell so you "behave".
I've not actually been arrested in about four years, since I went to juvy, and I'm 18 now, so I was surprised they even asked when my criminal record come up. I thought it got removed at 16. I defo come out of the whole thing as best as possible. The CCTV was pretty damn bad. You just see this kid getting mouthy to my girl and the second he even flinched in her direction I just level the kid. Then they all jump on me. Not my brightest moment
I've been watching this Chinese guy on YouTube. Nunchuks. Fucking lethal stuff. He hangs up this big beef side and starts breaking its bones.
Exactly I wouldn't fight any Girls. It's better to walk away. Not into beating women. To each his own.
I should make it very clear, I got into a fight with a guy, defending a girl. A girl who I'm dating. I didn't just batter a chick
Whats the Amber Heard thing in short? I heard some phone calls where she sounds like a typical insane chick when they are talking about fights and Depp was always trying to get away from her. She's 25 years younger than him and pretty hot. Still my man could have picked a hotter younger chick. I hate it when a chick is just being irrational and no kind of logic can get through.
