Without overrating Fury realistically which greats could Fury beat in a Mythical match? Like for example Tyson vs Fury Ali Vs Fury Holyfield vs Fury Ect...... What guys would he struggled with or lose to. For example I think prime Tyson vs prime Fury ...Fury's mental toughness, heart, physical advantages would be too much to overcome for Tyson. I see something similar to Lewis vs Tyson where Tyson the much shorter man gets manhandled, pot-shotted and Eventually ktfo. Even tedy Atlas said Tyson lost to every single guy that gave him resistance. In other words most guys were intimidated by Tyson before they got in the ring. But warriors like Holyfield who gave fuck all about Tyson's reputation he lost to. I think Fury easily KOS the small hw like Usyk and Jones. But to be fair was not in his prime at HW.
Tyson was ridiculous at closing distance and weaving under shots, I could see him making Fury spit blood.
Can you name one guy Tyson beat as big(Size, height, reach) that could move and box as good and accomolished as Fury?
Obviously it's a Mythical match. But here is what we do know. Fury has beaten a guy that could punch as hard if not harder than Tyson. But for the life of me I can't think of one guy Tyson beat in their prime that was as big as Fury, could move like him, had the intangibles(heart, chin)could box and had a good Jab. I'm sorry I know Tyson is a legend But I'm not sure Mike could deal with a guy like Fury. Too big too skillful.
88 Tyson would beat the fuck outta Fury. Please dont overrate the guy's ability based on beating up palookas like Wilder and Whyte.
Fury would beat Marciano, considering Rock is a cruiserweight today. He would stop Patterson, obviously. He would beat Norton.
Fury would be a live underdog but Tyson (the real one ) has to be a solid favorite imo. Fury seems to struggle with speed and his chin is definitely crackable, I don't see him coping well under the hurricane like pressure Tyson would bring.
He'd ruin Norton.....Norton never won a fight in his life against a puncher and let's face it, Fury would be a puncher compared to Norton. Fury can hit as hard as Scott LeDoux, FFS. The entire 70s B List probably lose to Fury. Floyd, Quarry, Lyle, Shavers, etc. Shavers could knock Fury into next year but he'd simply never get close. If he does, Aye Carumba, but he wont. The 60s B side gets beaten too. Ellis, Thad Spencer, Mac Foster, just too small. 60s A Side and 70s A Side can beat Fury. Liston, Ali, Frazier, Foreman all got a great shot to do him. They start favourite. Absolute peak, keyed up Mike Tyson probably does Fury in short order but ANY deviation from Mike and what should be a hatchet job turns into a real problem for Mike with grappling etc.. You see guys like Paikic and Firtha and Cunningham land sharp well timed shots that have Fury in all kinds of trouble. I don't buy this bullshit about Wilder being this monster hitter..he wasn't....sorry, and Wilder was a puny man compared to guys like Liston or Foreman. He doesn't beat a keyed up Lewis, or Vitali, probably can't beat the Wlad who beat Tony Thompson.. He could beat Larry Holmes because Larry could fuck up a wet dream if you let him. But IF Holmes hurt him, he'd finish him. And Holmes always got a guy hurt, be it Norton, Weaver, Cooney etc . There were versions of Holyfield that Fury could beat.
It's the timing. Fury is offensively poor in that he makes mistakes that.midt guys are too busy to take advantage of. Guys like Cunningham, John McDermott and Firtha who were brave enough to hold their feet a split second and get their shot off over his sloppy jabs or loopy hooks had him badly hurt. But you've got to be brave enough to hold your fire, wait, slip and bang! explode it onto his noggin. I think Corrie Sanders could have tagged him if Fury followed him to the ropes.
Fury has fought and beaten the dumbest collection of guys since he came back. I can't think of one of them that had a boxing imagination worth a damn. I really think he should face Joshua and Usyk. Usyk is the smartest guy he'll ever fight.
I think Fury always beats Wlad to be honest and I don't think his actual victory had anything to do with age either. It's not like it was fought at some frenetic pace the old man couldn't keep up with. Fury won because Wlad needs to be set to throw, and his unpredictable movement and rhythm prevented Wlad from doing that. Those same problems are going to be there regardless of whether Wlad is 40, 30 or 20. Vitali is a completely different proposition and likely winner over Fury for the exact same reason. He doesn't need to be set and can and will throw going forwards or backwards. I do think it is a competitive (and incredibly ugly) fight though.
Wald was always a mental midget, so I wouldn't put it past Fury always having his number. I can't see Fury beating a prime Vitali. He was a lot meaner and tougher than his brother.
Wlad's mental fortitude is certainly questionable but whilst I think that did play a part in their fight it was more of a technical/style issue. Vitali is a tricky one to predict because the only good fighter of the same kinda size he fought was also the only one who was an ATG and is obviously a very different customer to Fury. It's a shame Solis was such a fat, lazy bastard and Hide was such a pussy. They were both competitive in the first round with Vitali before Solis's knee gave way under the weight of his own flab and Hide pulled his customary quit job the next round. It says something that those are the only two rounds I can use as a reference because outside of Lewis hardly anyone was able to win a round against him. I do agree Vitali was a mean bastard and wouldn't get suckered in to any mind games like Wlad did, he'd be relishing making Fury pay.
I'd take Fury over both Klitschkos. I never bought that Vitali was better than Wlad. He was just tougher.
Vitali was an excellent fighter but I'd lean towards Fury beating him. If you take away Vitali's height advantage i suspect a lot of that unorthodox, improvised leaning and odd-angle countering he did starts to break down. Fury comes at him like he did Wilder, well balanced, throwing short & straight? I think he comes out better in most exchanges. Itd be a scrap though
I think Fury at his best is very good, but we haven't seen his best in two years, and hadn't seen it for five years before that. I think Usyk beats either version.
I pick Fury over Usyk but I think the fight needs to happen for him to be considered a legitimately great fighter (provided he wins, obviously).
Yeah of all the fights that needs to happen in any division I'd like to see that one. Fury has never been Undisputed. Lewis was right when he said he needs to be just that.
Good point. Usyk is a great fighter and if Fury beats him that will be the icing on the cake for his legacy. Then he can ride off into the sunset. And what's the point of fighting AJ? Everyone thinks he's a fraud(Primo Carnera 2.0). That fight does nothing for his legacy. Unless he's looking for one last pay day(two limey cunts at Wembley 800k attendance mucho dinero $$$$)
There's actually probably half a dozen fights I'd rather see than that one. Tyson Fury just doesn't interest me in the slightest.
He could out-box vatali if he went hippity-hop for the full 12 rounds and didn't go to the mauling style I reserve judgement on a Usyk fight until after the leap amateur Joshua rematch He'd out-box the sloth '94 Foreman, i think in my mind he also out-boxes the '91 Foreman that looked decent against prime Holyfield I have no idea in my mind how a peak Holyfield would fare against Fury, maybe if he got the Damiani fight (no Damiani isn't anywhere near as good as Fury but he would have fought a similar style against him) I would have some clue, but then he pulled out and got Cooper instead '92 Bowe would actually fight inside if Fury went to the mauling style, then again, if Fury went full hippity-hop, who knows, when he fought a Tubbs who went full hippity-hop against him he struggled, last time I watched it I actually had Tubbs winning (Bowe probably would have hammered him in a rematch, i think in my mind) He'd khtfko '75 Norton Sr. as long as he fights him with the mauling hunter style like he did in the last two Wilder fights '74 Foreman should be favored over Fury, unless "lose ropes" happens again and he just Wilder windmills himself into a KO loss like he did against Ali '74 Ali would be a terrible fight, it would look more atrocious than Keith Thurman's hairline, '67 Ali would win via stink '71 Frazier something something rib-roasting, devasting pivots, brother. Like prime Juan Diaz
It's a top 10 fight just about any year out of the past 20.. I certainly wouldn't turn it down bearing in mind the other fights are so fraught in their making.
I'd be so confident in favouring Mike Tyson over Fury, that I'm not even sure if Fury is a favourite over a prime Povetkin. Especially back in 2014/15.
