Berlanga hasn't faced anybody a fraction as good as Lipinets.

Comparing Boots to Berlanga is a joke.

Berlanga also doesn't take boxing seriously. He rather hang with Fat Joe than train.

    Boots lives boxing.

Yeah Berlanga and Boots isn’t a good comparison at all.

Berlanga could be better compared to Ryan Garcia.

Berlanga is struggling with 2nd rate fighters.

Boots has yet to drop a round in his career.

    This guy makes absurd comparisons.

Is Left Hook Lacy a bad comparison? What world class opponents has Boots beat to say he can beat Crawford or Spence. All I'm saying is that I want to wait and see how he does against Thurman. There are levels. We Know Thurman won't fold like a lawn chair like all of Boots opponents.

Yes, Lacy is a bad comparison also.

Lacy went life n death with Omar Sheika even before Calz flogged him. Lacy was regularly dropping rounds against 2nd rate guys.

The 2022 Keith Thurman isn't much of a level. He just went the distance with the same Mario Barrios who Tank iced.

The 2022 Thurman would lose to Lipinets imo.

Stanionis is a bigger test for Boots.

Mario Barrios is not a bad fighter and I remember a different fight. I had Barrios holding his own with Tank. It's a moot point because it ended in a ko late in the fight but Barrios did well in spurts and I think hurt Tank and stood his ground. The end result doesn't tell the whole story. Tank was struggling. I think Thurman is a step above Barrios even a some what faded Thurman is better than anyone Boots has faced so far. If he makes quick work of Thurman I think he's the real deal.

Barrios was a complete cherry pick.

He arguably lost to a short, stocky southpaw in Botirzhon Akhmedov and had some minor wba title. Davis only fought him to snag an easy title in a third weight without having to face Josh Taylor.

Boots is way better than Lacy ever was and comparing him to Berlanga is embarrassing. Berlanga hasn't even beaten anyone as good as Clayton; let alone Lipinets.

In Thurman's prime, 2013-2016, he would have gotten a fighter the level of Barrios up out of there. And that's the point. He's slipped so far that he's now going the distance with very mediocre fighters.

He's purely a name at this point.

Thurman would get his ass kicked from pillar to post by Prograis at this stage, and though I love Regis, he's not Boots' level.

    Its a mismatch.

I can understand guys being drawn to a life apart from boxing and wanting a break from the monotony of dieting and training and early nights and 3ven earlier mornings. Guys want a distraction, an outlet, from boxing.

I just can't understand a cultural nonentity like Fat Joe being that outlet

I didn't mean that to be literal. I know Berlanga is cool with Fat Joe, but I doubt they hang out all the time.

The point i was making is that Berlanga seems more focused on being a star than actually improving his game.

His idol is Trinidad. Well fuck Edgar, if that's your idol, then train your ass off everyday like your idol used to, and stay out of the club and music videos.

But beyond all that... Boots is just a better talent than Berlanga. He has natural ability that Berlanga wouldn't gain even if he did train his ass off.

Oh i wasnt being literal either. The notion of anybody being drawn away from boxing and related $$$ to Fat Joe is risible. Fat Joe is far more likely to be trying to get with Berlanga.

Berlanga is just in love with his power. Thinks he can bang everyone out. He's a fat softy in my opinion. He doesn't look like Tito who looked like he spent every day in the gym.

I was guilty of falling for it. It happens.

I thought for a bit that he could be a guy that would threaten Canelo and Benavidez one day. I was wrong.

Canelo and Benavidez would both hospitalize Berlanga.

I think Berlanga isn’t a dedicated guy. He doesn’t give me the impression he is. Usually fighters who enjoy that celebrity stuff aren’t that committed.

Tito lived in the gym. Even when he didn’t have a fight lined up, he was always putting the work in.

It’s really hard to find fighters with that kind of dedication nowadays.

    Yeah, there's that too.

He doesn't have a fraction of Tito's talent, even if he was a hard trainer.

And Yet Tank struggled to get a "cherry pick" out of there. It wasn't until the 11th Tank caught him but Barrios had moments and used his boxing to stay in the fight. So either Barrios is a complete fraud and so is Tank. Or Tank really is that good and Barrios is right up there with him. Which is it?

That was my point. You have a tendency to be hot or cold with fighters. Before Berlanga got exposed in his last two fights you had mentioned in a post Berlanga could be the guy to dethroned Canelo. All because of your knee jerk reactions from seeing Berlanga ko a series of tomato cans. Now you're doing the same thing with Boots. Undefeated, young and talented ko artist. But again hasn't really beat anyone worth a damn to suggest he would beat Spence or Crawford or is the future super star of boxing. And I like Ennis but not sure he's done all that much to deserve so much praise from you.

If you swapped their work ethic, Boots would still be a better finished product IMO.

Different class of talent and skill.

I was never high on Berlanga though.

    Tank is overrated.

His finishing skills, power and accuracy all benefit from his highlight reel. The reality is that he rarely lands particularly clean, doesn't always set things up and isn't in this league of his own in terms of power. If he was a monster finisher, it wouldn't have took him 10 rounds to stop an ancient Gamboa after dropping him.

Barrios doing well is just a product of him being far bigger. He still got KTFOd.

Seems like Thurman is lined up to fight Eimantas Stanionis. Don't mind this fight at all since it's guaranteed some good action. Winner of that fight should take on Boots.

Stanionis is a dangerous fight for Thurman and not as big a pay day as Boots would be.
