According to Showtime boss Stephen Espinoza, at least.

I’m guessing it’s gonna get announced for October or November of this year.

I will literally not believe it until they're in the ring.

Classic cliché; but necessary in this case.

I get it. But I do think that there’s enough money to satisfy all parties here. Bud has been outspoken about how confident he is the fight gets done and he’s usually not one to speak on stuff like that, which leads me to believe they’ve probably been negotiating on the low for longer than we may think.

I dont see any reason to doubt at this point.

The TR/PBC rift was always the main obstacle.

I think its good to go.

If anything the delay only made it a bit bigger financially. Both are still top 3 in the division, at worst

Both unbeaten and coming off good victories

    I hope it flops.

Hopefully that'll teach everyone the lesson that Mayweather-Pacquiao should've taught.

Don't wait five years to make the best fights.

    You HOPE it Flops???...The FUCK?!:Dont:...

Mayweather-Pacquiao is THE Highest Grossing Fight Ever, Even Though it was a Tad Late and Floyd was 38, Pac 36...Didn't Matter Once It was Signed Though...

Spence-Crawford COULD Have Occurred Sooner, Obviously, But Now That EVERY Welterweight Title is Possessed by 1 or the Other, it's the PERFECT Time...And Spence is Just 32, Crawford Will Be 34-35, Depending On What Month it Happens...

STRANGE Ass Take for a "Boxing Fan"...

There's nothing strange about wanting boxing to go back to the time where the best regularly fought the best without going YEARS in the same division playing tit for tat with common opponents and talking about purse splits. If a fight which works as the poster for that flopping is a step in the right direction, then I'm all for it. It's not like it'd effect Bud and Spence much anyway. They're both already set for generations.

    Stop being so emotional.

No, I couldn't give a shit. You're the one who quoted me with these weird pictures going mad coz I said I hope it flops.

And yeah, I hope it flops IF it goes towards fixing the issues in the sport.

    That isn't weird.

    You are.

A Spence-Crawford flop wouldn't be good for the sport in anyway.

Its gonna do better numbers today than it would have in 2017, a time when neither was a mainstream name.

Which proves letting fights 'marinate', when you've got two guys who want to fight eachother and are dead set in their prime in order to make more money, works....

....which is bad for the sport.

I don't think for a second it will, but if it meant that promotors would stop ruining match-ups by waiting five years - not that this one has been ruined - then it'd be good for the sport.

That wouldn't be the takeaway if it flopped.

The takeaway would be: "Whats the point of making quality matchups if money grabs are making us more?"

So, its important this does well.

    Exactly...

Again, this ISN'T 38 Year Old Floyd vs. 36 Year Old Pac...

And in a BUSINESS Sense, Spence and Crawford Will Make MORE Now Than They Would've THEN...It's a GOOD Thing When Fighter's Can Maximize Their Earning Potential...

Like Other Hardcore Fans, REED was Also TURNED OFF by the Length of Time, the "Other Side of the Street" Talk and Other Obstacles Impeding Spence vs. Crawford from Happening...But Now That This Bout Seems as LIKELY, as INEVITABLE As it's Ever Been, it's STRANGE/WEIRD AF for a "Boxing Fan" to Openly Wish FAILURE Upon the Promotion Itself....

    But Whatever, Be STRANGE/WEIRD...

Selfishly, as FANS Yes, We Want the Best Matchups Right THEN and THERE...REED GETS That Logic Completely...But a Fighter Has 1 Career...1 Chance @ Generational Wealth, in Most Cases...

Sugar Ray Leonard AVOIDED Hitman Hearns for Like 2 Years, and Even Though Ray Eventually STOPPED Him, He Lost 3 1/2 Years of his Career Due to a Detached Retina in a Fight He KNEW Was Dangerous...But It Eventually PAID OFF for Sugar Ray, in the End...TIMING...

Andre Ward Took a Looooooooooooooonger Than Expected Route Towards Facing ELITE Opposition Than Most Expected, and WASN'T Even Favored to Win the Super Six Super Middleweight Tournament, Yet he Did...It PAID OFF for Ward in the End...TIMING...

Jeff Lacy vs. Jermain Taylor is a Shining Example of Letting a Potentially BIG Fight "Marinate" Tooooo Looooooong, Admittedly...They Ended Up Fighting on a NonDescript, HBO "World Championship Boxing" Telecast, When That Bout Had PPV HEADLINER Written All Over it @ 1 Time...

Spence and Crawford AREN'T There...Both Coming Off IMPRESSIVE KO Wins and Showing a Mutual WILLINGNESS to Actually Negotiate and Fight???...Sign REED Up...

Better late than never. But as always, I’ll wait until they officially announce it and both are in the ring. I think with all the wait and build up it’s had over the years, especially during COVID, it should be a PPV hit.

I wouldn't make the comparison with Pac-Floyd, which was really only a step away from Hopkins-Jones 2 in terms of relevance to either fighter, regardless of the numbers

I don't like marinating fights but this still feels fresh enough, both more marketable and neither that far removed from best
