Far from it .... I'm sat here watching England Vs Austria. First thing I notice is how much younger and childlike the crowd sounds. "Sold out" .... :Jest: it's all kids and mom's. There's literally two audiences, one that goes to football games and one that goes to women's football games.

    But! What's this I see? ....

..... On an electric hoarding, against a backdrop of pride-flag colours, is a message that reads...."Women Play Football, #Not Women's Football"

Aye but give it another another 5 years time when WPL attendances still lag behind the cow fields of the scottish third division despite most tickets being freebees. Reality will rot through the whole artifice, eventually

Madness. It could be Plunkett to the Raiders in terms of its being an unlikely but brilliant move but I seriously seriously doubt it.

I watched the Women's football. Its not bad if you can tolerate all the side issue bullshit. It's like driving a VW Polo. Decent enough but ruined by a constantly whining fan belt.

Which makes his post-move success all the more amazing.

Ps Sterling is no GOAT. £80m I'm heating :Jest:

That's one Mane, one Firmino and one Salah, btw.

No. He just had huge promise and was part of the most formidable attack in recent history, his contribution is augmented by the fact that Liverpool superficially came closer to winning the title than ever before.

If he was GOAT he'd have stepped up once Suarez left/got deported for being a national liability

It was the departure of Suarez that first demonstrated that Sterling was the sort of talented player who did better in the presence of other talented players than he did on his own.

He struggled when a greater percentage of the load was placed on his shoulders.

He's just a good athletic footballer who excels when there are other good footballers around him.

Not 100%. Sounds like he wants to go but United want him to stay.

At this stage of his career there's not a lot of clubs that would pay his wages let alone a transfer fee on top of it. There were links with Bayern but they put the kibosh on that idea as expected. Maybe Chelsea would do it.

Got my body analysed today and it seems my lean muscle mass is today 20lbs greater, at 160lbs, than my ENTIRE bodyweight was 20 years ago.

252lbs, with 160lbs of lean tissue.

Way too heavy still but I'm feeling optimistic..... I kind of havw things under control and my basal metabolic rate is 2300Kcal.....

I'm not hydrated enough, only coming in at 47.5% and my overall bodyfat is 33.7%, so that needs to be halved over the course of the next year.

I've mainly been watching MLS. Fun season so far. The one thing (only thing) MLS has over Prem/LaLiga is a lot more parity. Any club on any given year can win it all.

European sports needs a salary cap. These oil clubs just buy up all the players.

Agreed. Sterling scored more goals at City but was a better player with more to his game at Liverpool. He's regressed since he left, and I bet you he will struggle mightily at Chelsea.

Northern Ireland are being spanked. By Norway. Very one sided stuff. Middling attendance.

It's a shame because before the big TV money came into the game in '92, and really took a stranglehold in the 2000s you always had these smaller clubs like Forest, Ipswich, Norwich, Southampton, QPR (once!) make a real genuine run at the title and sometimes win it. Now it is just stupidly top-heavy. Leicester in 2016 is literally the only time that's happened since the 70s and that was one of those perfect storm moments.

Even if a club like Leiecsterishire "only" got a CL spot the bigger ones would have come for their players. In the larger picture that's what makes it even more frustrating than seeing good/great sides coming up short. You know it's all temporary.

Would they have won it again the next year? No. What would have been nice is to see the same squad try again. Success for a small(er) club is not only rare, but essentially impossible to sustain no matter how well they manage affairs.

    Yep.

I never got why Kante left straight away for Chelsea. Obviously money and the chance for sustained success, but he was clearly one of the best players in the world at the time. It wouldn't have hurt his market value at all to just stick around for one more season and have a crack at the Champions League with the guys you just achieved something incredible with. Mahrez at least stuck around for a couple more years. It just ruins it tbh, I knew as soon as he went that they were going to decline rapidly.

Another example of that kind of thing is when Saha was at Fulham and they were 3rd in the league at Christmas, they were never going to win it or anything but a CL spot looked a legit possibility. Of course Man Utd notice it, buy him in January and Fulham drop like a stone. It's fucking annoying.

I always felt Torres running off to Chelsea was a bitch move....people looked past it because of the Carroll/Suarez signing but he ran off once he decided that the situation was too dire and the grass greener on the other side.
