The rarest combination in boxing is blinding handspeed & legitimate one-punch fight-ending power. Which guy had the best combination of both? The obvious choices being: Tyson Robinson Jones Pac Hearns Louis Foster Patterson
I don't think there's a wrong answer outta Robby, Hearns, Tyson, Roy. Pac is in the running, but Pac didn't have quite the level of power as the above 4, imo.
Nonsense. Jones was a puncher. Period. If all speed was power, then Camacho and Taylor would have been punchers.
While they don't make the top 3, here are more guys who had one-punch fight-ending power, and very fast hands: Hamed M.Spinks Trinidad Tszyu Jackson Gomez Rosario Corrales Canizales
Yeah, Lummox's speed gets sold short. I don't think they was a 6'5+ guy in the division's history with handspeed as explosive as Lummox's. Golota handled the force of Bowe's shots, but he wasn't prepared for the velocity Lewis hit him at.
He was extremely fluid too, which is an area no other heavyweights that size even compare to him in. He could let loose a series of crippling fast, damaging shots at any moment.
The destruction of Grant was also evidence of this. Yes Grant had no chin, but he also could not see where Lewis shots were coming from.
I agree when I think of the hardest punchers of all time Roy Jones doesnt come to mind. His best asset was his speed. The old boxing saying holds true...the punches you dont see are the ones that Hurt you. Anyone even my 11 year old can knockout a full grown man if there is enough speed and accuracy (on the button). Jones=Speedy fighter(fast-twitch muscle) Beterbiev=True power...the kind that hurts you no matter where it lands. Thats the difference imo.
Mmmmm I dont know. Pac Carried his power up eight divisions(gave Margarito a beating). Roy didnt do shit to Ruiz other than peck him to death. Tua starched Ruiz in seconds. P4P Pacquio was a harder puncher.
Roy carried his power up through three divisions just fine. Not kayoing a man 33 lbs heavier than him is no knock on his power. Roy also stunned Ruiz several times in the fight and hurt him to the body.
Again I didnt say Roy couldnt punch this in response to a comment about Pacquio not being as big of a puncher as Roy. It's simple math. Pacquio Carried his power up to 8 divisions vs Roy 3 divisions. Pacquio is p4p a bigger puncher than Roy and its not even close.
Clearly, it PAINS You to Give Roy Jones the LEAST Bit of Credit, So Why Even Bother COMMENTING On Him???... He WHUPPED Ruiz's Ass, as the Pictures Illustrate, Even STAGGERED Ruiz a Time or 2...Fuck Are You Talking About???...By the Way, Roy was 33 Pounds LIGHTER, as Well... David Tua is One of the Harder HEAVYWEIGHT Punchers Of All Time; Roy Jones Began His Career @ 154 Pounds.... REED Doubts FACTS Matter to You Though.... REED
By THAT Definition, Pacquiao's a Bigger Puncher Than Mike Tyson as Well, Since He Fought in More Weight Classes...Simple Math, Right???... FYI, You Should Be EMBARRASSED By Double L of All People LIKING Your Post... REED
To REED, the FAIREST Way to Measure KO % is By WINS, Not By Total Fights...Never Made Since to REED to Detract from a Guys KO% in a Fight He LOST or DREW In...Of the Guys He BEAT, How Many Did He KO; That's Logical... On That Note, Per Boxrec... Manny Pacquiao - 62 Wins, 39 KO's = 63% Roy Jones Jr. - 66 Wins, 47 KO's = 71% Simple Math... REED
Thats fair. But I would also include quality of oposition. Has Roy knocked out anyone of the Caliber and chin of a De La Hoya? Miguel Cotto? Erick Morales? MAB? Ricky Hatton? Who was the best guy Roy Knocked out? garbage men and Police men dont count.
Thomas Tate had gone the distance with Julian Jackson. Roy iced him in 2 with one left hook. Merqui Sosa had a rep for having one of the best chins in boxing. Roy blitzed him in 2. Sugar Boy Maligna was known for his chin (Eubank and Benn couldn't dent him). Roy iced him with one left hook. Virgil Hill - never stopped before or after. Roy iced him with one body shot. You are a boxing dumbass of epic proportions.
