For sure. Just your original post had the ‘hard one to accept’ thing which sorta indicates had this injury not occurred we’d have a totally different fight. I’m saying no- BJS doesn’t ever see the final bell (at least in a fight he’s trying to be competitive in..). And in most cases spends the night in the hospital. A heavy puncher loading up shots and still landing at 40% never ends well for the other guy.

if plant doesnt accept the september fight with alvarez then he's an idiot and a bitch. if he does, then it makes sense why he avoided the benavidez fight from a risk vs reward standpoint.

 

Im sure ln Billy's mind he's coming back into it. In HIS mind he's possibly on his way to winning or at least to showing the world something. He had a few good rounds before the 8th. Sitting at a bar in decades from now at closing time, cursing his half-blind eye and his stolen glory.

 

I disagree with that description of Plant - he's an all-around boxer/puncher/fighter IMO, not just another Saunders. Benavidez would bring more raw intensity than Plant, but less polish and weaker defense IMO.

Canelo has proven he can adapt to any style, but he can also lose to a fighter of any style if that fighter happens to be great enough. Benavidez hasn't proven himself to be a great fighter yet, and until that happens, I don't see any reason to think his style is some kind of Achilles' heel for Canelo any more than Plant's is.

 

Seems more likely that approach would work on Oscar.

Aint he fat? I mean borderline unrecognisable fat. Just impossible to understand how a guy goes from a legit workd class level of fitness to morbidly obese so fast.

Take an obviously irresponsible dude and remove whatever commitment he had and just leave him with his money and BOOM…

Yeah its not like he has an extensive library and goes for long walks in the evening to contemplate the meaning of life. Probably lots of lounging around, barking orders at his wife and ordering take out.

Another thing about Saunders is that I always got the impression that he was one of those guys who was probably good enough at boxing to make a career of it, but never really LOVED the sport.

 

Him and his sort just do it for money. They'd sooner beat each others faces in over "honour" on some stinking site than fight for real money.

That guy looks healthier...Blown Up Saunders looks unhealthily fat.

 

The guy has gone from literally 8 rounds with Canelo fitness-levels to borderline obesia.

And he's done it faster than James Douglas too.

Apparently, and this is 6 day old news, Saunders last public appearance was in Sheffield to .....see his nutritionist ...with a view to getting ready for a December date.

Now, I'd keep an eye on that date. If it's anyone with a pulse Saunders might get his arse burst like Cool Vince Phillips did when he dropped 70lbs to fight Terron Millet.

 

Saunders has always been a cherry picker. I doubt he fights anyone of note.

 

So a guy who was never ever going to be a great fighter, got a huge payday and afterward got fat.

What am i missing here that anyone should care about?

 

He didn't get fat. He got fuckin obese and is still obese and is due to fight in 4 months. There might be money there to be had if he's dumb enough to fight a 12 rounder Vs anyone half decent.

 

He has ironically got one of the better records of most British fighters this past few years. His win on the road Vs LeMoo was memorable. LeMoo really thought he only had to show up.

His comp is decent ...Andy Lee, Eubank Jr, Monroe Jr, LeMoo, Coceres...(who slapped Berlanga about), Martin Murray, Canelo, but it's his style and stinky attitude that renders him unpopular.
