Not my area of expertise, per se, but suggest having a look at the various provisions which govern trials and pre-trial disclosure. The current rules are the Criminal Procedure Rules 2020. No good if the trial was 10 years or so ago, but you could try and work backwards through the various versions of these. Also look at the various Criminal Practice Directions which supplement them. The behaviour of solicitors is covered by the SRA Code of Conduct. General criminal practice directions are available at Criminal Practice Directions [2015] EWCA Crim 1567.

That would be where I would start looking.
