Then again, Groves damn near stopped Froch in 1, and Taylor dropped him hard inside of 3.

So Spinks KO 2 or 3 is very possible.

My guess is, Froch talks shit before the fight, so Spinks decides to torture him for a bit.

It has got to be Froch that has the best shot. He hung with the top guys of his day and didnt get blasted out like Vargas (many times) and Tszyu (a couple times). Reasons to follow that he’d have the best chance of hanging with the top guys of past. Tszyu is a distant 2nd and Vargas isn’t even on the map.

Not saying Vargas was a special fighter but he was never a pussy. Tito beat him with everything but the kitchen sink and almost went the distance with Vargas. It just depends which Vargas if we are talking pre Trinidad Vargas I think he could make it a long night but eventually Hearns power would be too much for Vargas. A fight thats more interesting is Trinidad vs Hearns at 147. I think thats a 50/50 fight.

Even pre-Trinidad, a rusty Ike had Nando badly buzzed with a right hand.

And all due respect to Trinidad's power, but Tommy's cross carried a different level of power than Tito's hook.

Also, you need to consider that Vargas had the feet and movement to get back in the Tito fight because Tito was always somewhat ponderous in the footwork department.

With Hearns' insane reach, and insane handspeed, there would be nowhere for Vargas to escape.

I'd say Vargas has the best 'chance' of winning, in the sense that Hearns is more likely to drop a fluke KO loss than Spinks or Leonard; but he also probably dishes out the worst beating off the three.

Yeah, this is basically the answer. Tommy is the only one of the three with even a remote chance of blowing it, but the chance is ridiculously remote.

I remember Ring Magazine did a MM between Basilio and Hearns like it proved something. Basilio would be a 10 stone fighter in his prime today.

Hearns is just a freak. He's like Achilles or Superman, there's that one way to get at him and if you can find it you'll mess him up.

Otherwise? You're dead meat. It's just that simple.

Basilio beat Robby. I wouldn't put it past him to beat Hearns. He had the style you need for it.

I think he's too short though.

Gavilan would very possibly beat Hearns.

Gavilans the guy I was thinking to beat Hearns too but Basilio just too short I think he'd get bombed out on the way in.

I don’t think Basilio beats a peak welterweight Robinson, though. That said, Basilio at his best did have everything you need to beat tall welterweights with great skill and punching power, so I wouldn’t put it past him.

Imagine Basilio vs De La Hoya:emoji_laughing:

Imagine hearns vs Mayweather at 147. I can only think of two instances where Floyd was slightly hurt. One was the Judah fight and the second was the Mosley fight. Now imagine that whip like right cross landing on Mayweather. Just Tommy's height and reach alone would give Mayweather trouble. But Mayweather as much as I think he was a cheater(King of clauses & cherry picking) he was also a very special fighter.

Mayweather is indeed a special fighter, but I don't feel he was at 147 and he matches up horribly with Hearns. There's a reason why he did not seem keen to ever fight the big tall ww (Williams and Margarito).

He was hurt a couple of times against Corley as well.

Floyd would lose similar to how Benitez did only Hearns with two good hands probably knocks Mayweather out at some point in the fight.

There were rumors of Mayweather ducking a fight with Wright at a catch weight. Another tall fighter that could jab and use his distance well. Then again I was at the MGM for Corrales vs Mayweather and Corrales looked to be about a foot taller( live) than Floyd and just dismantled Corrales. Hearns vs Mayweather would be a hell of a fight while it lasted.

I don’t think Hearns vs Mayweather would be too competitive. Floyd would make Hearns miss some shots but I don’t see what he’d be able to accomplish offensively.

Hearns is a bad matchup for a whole lot of fighters but purely style wise, defensive counter punchers particularly shorter ones lacking one shot power are going to be fucked against Tommy. I can't see what the likes of Mayweather or Whitaker could do against him.

Give up that level of height and reaching trying to box him from the outside? Go through fire and try getting inside? Good luck with either approach.

A Fighter LITERALLY Has to Be "Aaron Pryor Reckless" to Give Away THAT Degree of Height/Reach and BEAT Tommy Hearns...& Pryor Only Did it Against an Ammy Version; Hearns WRECKS Pryor as a Pro, However...

Pryor's Level of Sheer, Unadulterated In-Ring Recklessness ESCAPED Floyd & Pernell...Hearns Beats them Both, 10 Out of 10...Pryor MIGHT Get Lucky a Time or 2, Hearns 8.75 Out of 10...

If you could design a fighter to be as bad a style match-up as possible for Mayweather, you would end up with Hearns. There's literally nothing Floyd can employ to win.

Floyd fans on Facebook think Floyd would beat Hearns and KO him….

Anyhow, objectively it takes more than making Hearns miss to beat him. You have to get inside on him and break down his body round by round.

If Floyd opens up, he gets KO’d plain and simple.

Yeah i would take a Mayorga "type" over a Rigondeaux one even though the former is much more likely to get face-planted.

I rarely use lamebook but i guess because of fightbeat and whatever else the algorithm recommends boxing related content in the feed. I always just choose to "don't show me this" or whatever the option is when it happens. The comments are usually insanely stupid. Boxing is no different than any other sport or topic in general though. Wide open platforms like that are 95% garbage.

If it were a smaller forum you could at least have some fun and make up a ridiculous story that could sound plausible. People would back you up on it. Say the fight was signed before Tyson went to prison. If you had extra time and skills photoshop a fight poster.

You wouldn't hear back about it but it would be hilarious just knowing that the person would at some point share the story somewhere with actual knowledgeable fans and get laughed at.
