Watching the levedev KO where Roy looks like he's dreaming about bowing to the queen of England ... before lebedev smashes him nearly into a coma.... got me thinking how come we never see a young agile strong ref... we usually see some senile old man who can barely move... that's not the safest choice... ufc doesn't have 85 year old refs... the refs job is to literally protect a guy's life.... and you can't expect a 85 year old ref to do so... they should change that... 50 and under only
The irony is that the Jones fans like REED and myself hardly ever open Roy threads nowadays. We did 20 years ago, but not anymore. Now all Roy threads are opened by you and BF. Thanks for keeping him relevant!
The only ones that count are the Tarver and Johnson Ko’s.. Tarver was shocking….but you I had that “FUCK he got caught” mentality..he will turn it around in a third fight. Johnson Ko we all knew the ride was over….Johnson punches didn’t look that hard and Jones went down hard. All the other kos….would last 6 rounds vs Prime Jones….
I'm a Roy fan but I have no problem watching the KO's after 15+ years. The Tarver one was a perfect punch and deserves all of the accolades. The rest were more sad than anything.
Good point. If you rewatch Ortiz vs Mayweather when he suckered punch Ortiz Cortez looks confused. Looking away from the action in a sort of catatonic-like trance. It was obvious Cortez was too old and incompetent to be a referee. You seriously want that Cortez protecting you????
The one where he knocks the soul out of Art Serwano, literally. Looked like he was sent to the shadow realms.
Should have at least put down favorite KO LOSS on the thread title. His loss to Johnson was pretty brutal.
This, basically. I actually quite liked Glen Johnson because he trundled around the UK scene for ages and was the ultimate litmus test for any UK fighter who tried to reach the world class level. He was seen as a gatekeeper even then, but for him to go and literally FUCK UP the best fighter (to this day) I've ever seen, was fucking mental. Him beating Toks Owoh was kinda big (UK posters will remember), but knocking Roy Jones Jr out was so far removed from reality that I'm typing this and it STILL doesn't seem real.
Not only did Johnson viciously ko a debetably prime Roy he was schooling him all the way up until the KO
