The problem Newcastle United have is that there's always a surcharge now people KNOW they have money......it's not like Manchester United, people know they have no money so they ask reasonable prices like £70m for Casimeiro etc.

Disaster for all of humanity. Akin to the fuckin Vandals storming the Holy City of Rome. Babes slaughtered on the altar..the sacraments strewn to the ground, the Holy Rites trampled, the Temple burned dooooon!!

PSV never even look close to doing a damn thing.

Back to making cassettes and petrochemicals lads.

Nope. Loads have tried, all have failed. They've pulled out of loads of transfers when daft cunts have tried to overcharge them. It's been the source of much Twatter angst, in fact.

    Random factoids:

No team with 'Athletic' in their name has ever won the English league, Oldham and Charlton both came very close but finished 2nd both times.

Despite the abundance of clubs sporting similar attire, no team since Sunderland in 1936 have won the league whilst wearing striped shirts.

No team wearing hoops have ever won it, the closest being my boys QPR in 1976 who finished 1 point behind Liverpool.

If i buy Man United I'll change their kit to bright pink hoops and change their name to "Manchester Athletic" .

That'll be them done for the foreseeable.

Looks like United will be dropping damn near 200 million or over in the last week of the window. Casimero for 70m. Antony 100m. Gakpo 40m. Glazers out.

Can you remember the last club to win the league playing in a vertical 50-50 kit as their main kit?

Are you saying you don't like the useof the full name?
Otherwise, Yes i agree. I think the reason most people drop the "United" is because there is no other local "Newcastle" side eg Newcastle City or Newcastle Rovers etc that needs distinguishing from.

Hence i wouldn't say "Bristol" played tonight rather I'd say "Bristol Rovers"

But you're making the point for me..

The purpose of activity in the transfer markets is to land your targeted signing and do it as cheaply as possible.

It is not to merely avoid paying too much where that also includes not signing anyone.

Being known to be rich remains an issue as they're never gonna learn not to try it on....at least not for a couple seasons.

Blackburn? Was it 50/50 or was it just the sleeves that were different, like a blue and white version of the classic Arsenal kit? I can't remember off the top of my head and I don't want to cheat.

Who were the last team to win the league without any of the Union Jack colours in their kit? Now that's a tricky one. Had to go back a while to find it.
