Shouldn't the full name be Newcastle upon Tyne United? Why are they distancing themselves from the Tine?

They have blue (sky blue, to be fair, I get where you may be coming from with this, but blue all the same). White shorts too.

On closer research, it's not just the last club, it's the only club in the entire history of English football. Which is kind of mental.

So basically any clubs with primarily green or yellow or black? Usually everyone has white though. That's a rough one there.

No, no ulterior motive. Newcastle United are called 'United' because they are a United team from the two original Newcastle teams. I hate the use of 'United' to describe Manchester United. They United fuck all.

That's fair. There are lots of cunts trying to take the piss. It's been a real issue - Man Utd wanted a £12m loan fee for Lingard back in Jan

It'll settle in 3-5 years. It always does.

From being extremely bored tonight and researching football club history, as I understand it Man U's "United" came from representing Greater Manchester as a whole rather than just the city, as opposed to being a merger of two clubs, but yes Newcastle United got there first.

That's correct and the trick now is to resist setting the predicate. Look how cheap City got Haaland.

50-50 shirts especially FIRST shirts are rare. Really rare.

Man "United" had that Newton Heath effort and Liverpool 2 years later had an equally horrific green-white affair.

That's all I can think of.

No but you're in the correct general geographical region and no it's not Man United.

He isn't in the correct region, if you're discussing the answer to my trivia question.

Not a bad effort by the standards of the time. There was some HORRIFIC shit in the 1990s.

I'd say WOLVES because of Gold and Black. I don't think I've ever seen them play in the 8kd footage in any other colours.

Sincerely it was a guess. The only check I did& and it was after- was to see if they'd ever won a title.

If you look at the old footage from the 70s even their socks were gold or orange. Black shorts and gold shirts.

I wanted to make sure I hadn't gotten it wrong, and it seems they did win their first title in red and white, but they'd switched to gold and black by the time they'd won their most recent title in '59.

Curious that I don't think a team has ever been champions of England with green in their kit, unless Man U won a title when they were still Newton Heath, which I can't be arsed to check. It's all just weird peculiarities of course but fairly interesting (for me tonight it seems).

Norwich and Bradford were my next bets. It's the shorts that catches you out....or the socks...or that they never won the league ever lol

The Liverpool keepers all played in green from the 1960s on.

Haha yeah I think green, grey and black are the colours of choice for most goalkeepers now, but for outfield kits I can't recall any green.

Looked it up and Man U had switched to red before their first league title, so nope as far as I'm aware no green league champions.
