Dick in your ass or mouth? That was a question for neil Now onto the real question Do you enjoy a fighter you like winning more or a one you dislike losing?
When I was younger, it was A. The fighter I liked winning more. Now its B. I don't have the same connection to the young crop. I mean, I like Bud, Spence, Ennis, but it's nothing like the fandom I had for Roy, Tyson, Toney, ect. If these current guys lost, it wouldn't affect me much. Whereas when I was a youngster, I felt physically ill when Mike or Roy lost. Chalk it up to the fact that these new guys aren't my generation. So, nowadays I take more pleasure in seeing a guy I dislike lose.
I agree with you on all of this. To answer Boss's question I would definitely now rather see a fighter I don't like lose. Question though - do you think if another Tyson-esque fighter who was just as good came through, could you back them in the same way or would it be different because of our age etc?
Nah, it'd be impossible. I grew up on Mike. For young black kids in NYC, Mike was basically our God. Roy was the one who converted me from being just a casual who was a Tyson fanboy to a true BOXING fanboy. So no, it'd be possible for me to ever like another fighter/s as much as those two.
Definitely won't be the same. When you're a kid/teen, it's normal to look up to someone s older who's making it big. Would just be weird now to ''worship'' some daff kid nearly half my age
For me, it's pretty much the reverse of when I was younger. Back then, it nearly always been B (except for Tyson, Hilton, Jones and Ruiz, who I was a big fan of). Currently, even though my ''fandom'' for any specific fighter is really weak, it happens very rarely that I seriously dislike a fighter. So I'm usually rooting for instead of against (though I'm mostly wishing for a good fight).
A all the way. The only fight I recall really enjoying see the guy lose was Barrera-Hamed, that’s it, otherwise I’m either neutral or cheering for one guy.
2009 was a great year for guys I disliked getting smashed. Juan Diaz, Margarito, Jermain Taylor, Hatton, and Cotto all got fucked up that year. I'll never forget it. It was a satisfying time.
I'm with you on Juan Diaz. Was not a fan of his boring volume punching style. It was pathetic how he tried to swing for the fences and his opponents didnt even flinch. He was more feather fisted than Devin Haney and Paul Malanaggi. On the rare ocassion he got a tko it was due to his opponents being exhausted from trying to block all the pitty pat punches he threw. Marquez knocking him out was very satisfying.
