A draw at at EyePox stadium tonight leaves Liverpool 2nd after 2 games played each, 1 point off the top, a state of affairs that looked decidedly unlikely by 90 minutes last night.

We've all got room for improvement. Enjoy this time, because improvement comes naturally and quickly. It gets harder later down the line lol

She wants sub 2hrs. She's at about 2.10 - 2.15 pace right now. She'll run 1.55 max next year if she keeps training hard. We ran 8km x 5.30min today. A SB for her over five mile.

I'm presuming, it has to be, 1 hour 55 minutes not 1.55 hours?

8km by 5.30m per k is impressive, to me. I'm barely getting close to that over 5k.

I've had this grabbing pain in my lower left abdominal right over the thigh. I'm sure its down to the recent "PB" I ran.

My solution has been to not exercise and not eat. That's the rule now. Move or starve.

Weighing in in under 9 hours, I'll keep you posted.

We're looking for a 5km PB at at the end of this week. Her best is 27.05, so the aim is to parkrun Saturday under 27. She started from scratch in Jan, and only really kicked on in April - she'd never run a single 5km before April and her first one was 37.10.

Aye, running is great for cardio, but bad for niggly injuries. Short rests the order of the day. Hope the weigh in goes well.

If Madrid win their next three games Celtic qualify by beating Shaktar at home and getting one win vs Leipzig. If we keep performance levels up thats probable.

I'm presuming she's rake-like in any event to have been able to jump straight in like that?

I had no idea- mainly out of being largely in shape by the age of 19 - that running involved suppleness, flexibility and hormonal issues all of which are pre-affected by obesity issues.

I looked at it -obesia- as being more akin to just lugging about dead weight. It's not.

I know you know this but I wasn't aware of it. Stuff like how hormonally active visceral fat is, how it just basically messes you up.

My hamstrings back in February 2022 when I began my first tentative efforts (no times, no distances no calories etc) tolerated very little before they screamed at me.

They're still at me. Still a weak point. But far more tolerable.

Anyways I didn't eat yesterday. Had an oxo, coffee, a tiny square of pizza. Day before that? Half a steak and coffee, plate of greens with fatty mince and an oxo cube mixed in. As much water as possible. No potato. No pasta.

Been waking up the past few mornings feeling banjoed. A bit spacey in the head, got off my bed yesterday and felt wobbly.

Scales revealed why: 227.4lbs. That's the heaviest figure I could get the scales to return.

Immediately drank a litre of water and got it back up to 229lb but it's still a loss of at least 3 in the intervening week.

Here's the rub....in that 5 days I did precisely no kitchen work, so gone were the standing 8hr shifts and associated sweats, I did ZERO walking, certainly nothing in the form of the 12k,14k Summertime stuff. I did ZERO of the old 1 hour 6k walks I normally stick in after work.

I did one of your 6k- last lap heroics style-, and the PB 5K. Both of those runs involved a 10 minute cycle to the park. Nothing, really, of a cycle. Up a hill down a hill.

    I did a few weights.

On Tuesday, which was a warm day, I broke into a sweat eating the greens....I have felt hot and tight all week. It could be some sort of thermokinesis, burning fat. I don't know.

There's nought wrong with the scales. It registered the water I drank, immediately.

That's a 5lb weight loss, dry weight to dry weight, in 7 days. First time in years I reckon I've hit the 220s. Running seems to have an effect walking doesn't. Walking works but there's no follow on as it were.

I cannot honestly say apart from Wednesday, that I really pushed the boat out. Did nothing "drastic" bar that. Of course maybe that is drastic.

My sister - a nurse- said I'll look small at 200lbs. She's right. How I EVER made 144 I'll never know.

Calories in, Calories out. It works.

I'm wondering at what point do I switch from CICO to something more geared towards body improvement and fitness-specific activity.

Right now it's all CICO, an emphasis on protein, but there's no structure beyond being a good boy and being active or self-restraint at mealtime. It's defensive weight loss. Go for a walk, try a run, don't eat, lift a weight, do 20 minutes on the bike, drink some water, go to work, out my dinner in the freezer, dream of Thursday etc :Jest:

I'll probably have to hit 200lbs first before switching from CICO to something more specific.

It's done turnaround....I watched that game last night and Celtic went right at them. Energetic, pressing, adventurous.

Defensive frailty persists unfortunately but they remind me a lot of pre-Virgil Liverpool, 2017, 2018 style.

Up at them, constant movement, good forward cohesion.

Learn how not to walk around with your fly down and you'll shock some sides.

I think ive drawn the stylistic comparison before. Liverpool have finishers tho, our chances keep falling to Maeda, bless. I love that boy but he's a dug chasing a ball in the park with about as much technical ability

Here...we don't want to be responsible for any accidents.

I was already doing a bit of running before I came to Glasgow...it was simple shit, 25 times back and forth between two points, 35 times, up to 50.

You always think "I'll just work so hard" then you just fail. It's not a question of effort, its....preparation preparation preparation you look like a fat crocodile fat suitcase look like Idi fuckin Ahmeen.

You've got knees and hamstrings and shoulders- fucking shoulders go on strike after 5k. :Jest: They're all looking to go AWOL.

Your upper middle back seizes from the effort of breathing, like Jesus on the cross as your legs tire the effort of breathing gets harder, which limits 02 intake and CO2 expulsion, which fucks you up faster.

Active breathing is muscular dependent. To suck in air requires the intercostals to get involved.

By my 4th k of a "fast" 5, I'm pushing my fingers into my thighs to help drive my shoulder blades up to suck in that big breath I need, a big satisfying breath, like when you sigh.

It's deceptively difficult. There's so many little wrinkles. And as you tire, you lose focus, tend to settle into a comfort rhythm where you lose precious seconds, imperceptibly.

And I can't recommend it enough :Jest:

Nah he's the shaven head yakuza looking mofo. Kyogo is the blonde and he can finish, albeit he misses a fair few too.

Our best finisher is Giakoumakis and he missed a great one last night. Thats when you know its not your night

You've got good legs so the 3k will be eaten up handy. You're not fat . My only fear for you would be the intangibles eg Mr King Street and Mr Craft Ale.

Unfortunately, we operate at a cellular level and whatever they put in beer and kebabs, our mitochondria refuse to work with it.

I think they're really diminished by losing both aribo & bassey, especially both at once. Their phyisicality and pressing ability was important to them in europe

I honestly believe that if people understood half of what there is to know about modern living they'd pack up and go into a cave and peer out, suspiciously.

There's enough sugar in a packet of haribo to put the liver sideways in a hippo.

Their crossing is impressive. If ugly kid Moe scores that goal after 30 seconds, they'd have taken that game. They've got very little though apart from a well schooled train of thought based on crossing and activity. Once they're in shit, they stay there, it seems. Evidence? Celtic, Ajax,Napoli.

Im pretty sure this phone i have in the hand is creating serious cirrhosis of the consciousness too. Add baked-in lack of strenuous activity, lack of human interaction, lack of sunlight, reduced omega-3. Staying sane let alone happy takes constant work
