I dont think so. Unless 1 loses it will only get bigger. Especially if Crawford is able to get another decent ppv opponent and shine

Obviously id love to see it this year and e able to attend

Funny I Wonder if we'll hear the typical hater shit "oh Spence waited until crawford got old to fight him. " thats what they said when Canelo fought GGG.

What are you predicting in PPV buys, @Neil?

Personally, I think it'll be a success. Even the mainstream media will be pushing this one.

I doubt it'll break a mil, but I'm hoping (maybe false hope) that it hits ~700k.

Hmmm... maybe because I like when the sport does well. While we're on the topic of questions, why can't you keep your man love of Canelo out of a thread that has nothing to do with him?

Speaking of Canelo you don't seem to keep that same energy when it comes to the face of boxing. I remember on his last fight you said and I quote (I'm not paying for that shit"). For a guy who claims he wants to see the sport do well, I would think you would love Canelo. hmmmm I wonder why???

I never said I disliked Canelo's popularity. I dislike his delusional fanbase, and how fabricated his greatness is.

This fight really needs to be a success. And if it turns out to be a CLASSIC, then that’s exactly what boxing needs.

Alvarez most certainly did wait for that to happen. He attempted it and it didn't work. He got a gift, was forced into a rematch he was able to keep close enough to get a semi credible decision. Then waited 4 fucking years for the guy to turn 40

Here are some facts for you

Canelo vs GGG 1 took place april 2017

    GGG was 35

When and If Errol fights Crawford in november Crawford will be exactly 35 years old(nov of 87) the same age as GGG when he fought Canelo the first time. Oh but noone is saying Errol is fighting an old Terrance. Hmmmmm?? Weird.

Jesus Christ you are such a biased fanboy.

Spence is no spring chicken his damn self, that's for ONE.

Two, neither Spence nor Bud has ever been afraid of the other. That bullshit narrative exists on both sides, and it's just nonsense.

Bud made a bad career choice by staying with TR so long, which is the ONLY REASON this match-up took 5 years to make.

It's not at all similar to Canelo waiting until Golov hit his mid 30s to fight him. Canelo was 27 at the time - still a young man.

Spence is damn near 33, I think. Bud isn't THAT much older.

    But, continue sucking off Canelo...

Spence-Crawford is also more highly anticipated than Canelo-Golovkin was as well being that both are of similar age and that both are undefeated and all the belts being on the line.

No, it's not. I agree with the rest, but that first part is inaccurate.

Golovkin-Canelo 1 was a bigger fight from a mainstream standpoint. Canelo was still a star in 2017, and Golov was a bigger name than both Spence and Bud are today.

Do I think Bud-Spence is a better match-up from a boxing perspective? Yes.

We finally agree on something. Spence vs Crawford is a throwback fight. To a much lesser degree, it reminds me of Hearns vs Leonard. It's what the hardcore fans want to see. I can't think of any other fight that's been marinating as long as this one has that I want to see. Other than Davis vs Garcia or Haney.

Leonard-Hearns was huge in the mainstream though.

In 82, Leonard was probably the most famous athlete in the U.S.

I've never been critical of Spence. His resume is solid. About the only fight, you could be critical of is whe he fought a Garcia who had no business fighting at 147 in the first place. I have no problem with Spence and have no problem with people saying Canelo has hand-picked some of his opponents. I agree 100%. His fights with Khan, and Chavez jr were mismatches. But I also give Canelo credit for becoming undisputed in one year at 168. And if and when Spence fights and beats Crawford I will give him credit for becoming undisputed at 147. BUT I doubt Spence beats Crawford. Terrance is the complete package and I see too many holes in Spence's defense that Crawford can exploit. Not being a hater just feel Crawford is the superior fighter.

This is very Mayweather like. Do you remember when Canelo was going for undisputed at the peak of his popularity Mayweather made an announcement that he was fighting again. It was during Canelo's vs Plant fight week I think. Its just a cheap ploy to steal some thunder from Canelo's fight and get some attention. I wouldnt be surprised if Crawford vs Spence never takes place i'll believe it when i see them in the ring.

Not really I just think its hell of a time. When (the face of boxing) if fighting this week for them to make the announcement? They realize Canelo's fights generate a buzz in boxing and they are taking full advantage to say "hey look at us, we're fighting soon". Oldest trick in the book. Nothing wrong with that but I wonder how "official" Spence vs Crawford really is. And as far as "nobody cares about this fight"...we shall see. You have made it quite clear in this forum that you are not going to buy it. But guess what you and your broke ass east coast friends are not the demographic group who buy Canelo fights. So in the larger scheme of things who gives a shit if you or your buddies give a shit. Canelo fills up arenas.

This is old school boomer thinking right here. “Let it marinate” fuck that. Have these old fucks heard of shit going viral?? We dont live in that age anymore. Information is free and shit spreads like wildfire. Even a relative by comparison C-grade fight like Tank-Rolly damn near went fucking nuclear apparently somehow to the surprise of everyone involved. When the fight is hot the world knows it. We don’t need another moldy stale affair like Lewis-Tyson just to rally up interest. The time is now, anything else is shittier and everybody loses including the promoters.

    All this huffing and puffing.

Canelo's resume takes a loud shit all over Crawford and Spences' combined. People can try and tear down Canelo all they want, but that is a FACT. Oh, and he just turned 32.

And how are you not going to order this fight? Because GGG is old? Why not Andrade, Charlo, Benavidez fight him? Why aren't they fighting each other? To top it all off, there's a nice undercard for a change.

Anyhow, I pick Spence to win, both are excellent, but Spence the bigger and younger man with a better resume. Two of Bud's biggest wins were Spence leftovers.

Agree with all including Spence winning, except I still dont care about Albarez-GGG 3. He beat his ass twice already. Doesn’t mean Alvarez isnt easily among the elite boxers of this era.

Miguel Cotto (considering two fights ago a fat Cotto went up in weight and beat the shite outta Martinez to become MW champion of the world)
Erislandy Lara in a close fight

Both those wins are better than Special K who happens to be Spence's best win, and it could be Crawford's best win too unless you count the midget Gamboa as his best win

Just out of curiosity Neil where are you going with your loaded question?

If you are saying that Canelo's resume is shit compared to other greats because his claim of fame or "biggest win" was GGG. Then I think that's a bit unfair.

Canelo wasn't in an era full of future hof like the 80's due to no fault of his own. Canelo bested everyone they put infront of him except for Mayweather(152 catchweight)and Bivol(full fledged 175 pounder). And those fights he was at a great disadvantage.

There have been other greats like Larry Holmes that reigned around a weak division. But noboy holds it against Larry. Canelo came around when greats started to get old. Like Dela Hoya, Pacquio, Ward, Hopkins ect ...many were winding down and there were no superstars to replace them. Despite all that Canelo never ducked anyone and has the best resume in boxing of any active fighter today... so let that fact really sink in before you ask a silly question like "what was alvarez top two victories".
