One of the better prospects in the game. He replaced Rungvisai tonight and I think he's gonna beat the backne off cuadras

    He isn't really, though.

Estrada is the real WBC champ.

I remember when Bam was an amateur. I believe that he had all his fights in the junior division as he turned pro real young. He was ranked in the top 3 in the world at the time, in the juniors, and he was already a terrific body puncher. At that time there was a very strong connection between San Antonio amateur boxing and the Robert Garcia camp.

beating cuadras is a legit victory. much more legit than a bunch of these belt holders. estrada got a gift over gonzalez and was in for an ass whipping in march

Estrada is the WBC's #1. Not Rodriguez.

Estrada beat Chocolatito and would've done so again.

Years ago I saw video of Bam competing in an international tournament, some place in Europe. I believe that he was ranked #2 in the world at the time. He started going to the body and his opponent was literally running from him.

Rodriguez doesn't have an easy fight tomorrow, I think this is a good match. I'm interested in seeing how Bam deals with Izzy.

Been a fan of Bam since his fight with Cuadras and started watching his other fights since and have been nothing but impressed. Just an awesome talent and a lovely fighter to watch. Like to see how he looks tomorrow.

There's no dominant champion in these little men divisions. Can't really say so and so is the real champion.

Take the 135 division. Everyone assumed Teofimo was the "real champion" because he beat Loma for all the belts. Then loses all his trinketts to Bumbozo in his next fight. Bumbozo becomes da man until he loses to motherfuckin feather fisted Devin Haney. So is Haney the "real champion" Georgie???? What a bunch of rubbish lol.

Well.. Bam certainly didn’t look impressive or special. Could be an off-night and Israel Gonzalez being highly underestimated. I won’t hold this fight against him because this is a learning experience for Bam. He definitely has a long way to go, and he’s certainly not ready for Gallo or Chocolatito from what we saw last night.

Sometimes you have a night where you just aren't feeling it and go out and do the best that you can. And sometimes, especially when fighting for a world title, the other guy is good, too, and in shape and fighting for his dream and trying as hard as he can to win.
Between movies and 30 years of almost every fight being a mismatch, losing a round means that you have been "exposed " and winning a tough fight on an off night is shameful.

Yeah it's kind of crazy. I'm not speaking about this fight or any fighter in particular but the word "exposed" is ridiculously overused. Sure it has its time and place but not the way it's casually thrown around.

If they dominate all their opponents then they've not faced adversity. If they got hurt or dropped rounds along the way? Well then that shows they were a hype job. Which way do you want it?

I actually thought Bam looked alright, but he was in with a tough guy who posed a lot of issues with his height, style and workrate. He didn't set the world on fire or anything, but he showed his skills and toughed out a hard fight.

He's only what? 22? This is the sort of fight he'll need if he wants to step up.

People are so quick to write off Bam and calling him overrated just because he didn't dominate his last opponent. It seems nowadays a fighter HAS to be so dominant and not lose a single round in order to not be called a hypejob or an exposed fighter.

Bam is one of my favorites right now, if not my favorite. He is such a stylish fighter! Even in Saturday's back and forth "brawl" he maintained poise and precision like a master.

I thought Bam looked ok. I have been a boxing fan long enough to know that even the best of them can have an off night, a very tough opponent or both. Can't dominate every fighter it's not a fight night video game where you smash all the buttons and get the quick knockout this is real life lol. Gonzalez was a tough nut to crack for anyone. The same guy that went 12 rds with Chocolatito.

Overhyped. I was not impressed at all and not for the first time. Gets hit too much and I think someone like Sunny Edwards would actually just win a UD against him. He also seems predictable after a few rounds, it's the same moves. That Gonzales guy was predictable in there throwing a 1-2-3 or a 1-2 hooks to the body over and over. If I was noticing it then what do you think elite technicians like JMM would be doing - landing flush power shots on guys like that with regularity. If Bam was not a southpaw I don't think he'd be as successful but I guess you can say that for most southpaws. This is not an elite guy though in my opinion. Certain guys look impressive but a closer look will tell you everything.
