Claressa Shields vs Savannah Marshall

Never thought I'd be looking forward to a woman's fight but I am going to watch this. Bad blood between the two. Anyone else interested?

You know me and women's boxing. Even though Haney is a bore, I'll watch him over two chicks.

I think Marshall beats the crap out of her. Shields is just fast hands and not much else. She got dropped by an uppercut early in her career. She rarely hurts people and doesn't have much accuracy and spends most of the fight flat footed. Marshall is constantly moving and giving different looks. She throws a huge variety of punches to head and body and is aggressive and has gotten stronger and filled out. She is the bigger stronger woman here. I think she will start absolutely beating the crap out of Shields and get a stoppage. Shields is trying to do imitations of Mayweather and other flashy fighters. She is punching with speed and not a lot of power. Once Marshall gets into her groove and is giving her angles and throwing stuff out there that Shields will react to, she will then start punching off Shields reactions and Shields will be in a fight. Shields will find out that she is outgunned and I believe she doesn't have the ability to hit and move on the outside and basically run. She will fight fire with fire and start taking big shots. The ref jumps in somewhere in the 7th or 8th round. It's going to be an easy fight for Marshall mark my words.

 

Id laugh if Marshall beat the hell outta her. Not gonna watch live, though.

Oddly, I dislike Marshall more than Shields. She's a local lass to me, too, so I wanted her to do well, but she's gone on and on and on about that ammy fight fucking who knows how long ago and now I'm going to tune in just to hopefully see her get brayed.

I've no idea who will win as I've never seen a minute of either of these fight. I watch precisely no wifey boxing at all. No interest in it.

They tend to be just bereft of much of what makes women attractive whilst falling badly short of the standards of physical excellence offered by men. Worst of both worlds. Savannah is like the female version of Tyson Fury in there but better. Shes taking a couple of rounds to get going but shes switching stances very frequently and throwing every punch from either stance and keeping on her opponents.

I'm not at all worried about B. The gimmick era of YouTubers fighting WILL die out eventually. The novelty is already dying.

It's the lack of big, quality fights that has the potential of killing the sport.

 

Not to really derail this thread, but history will show that DK was both the worst AND best thing to happen to boxing.

He was the worst because he fleeced everyone who signed with him. He was the best because he pushed to make big matchups. Of course, he wasn't perfect in that regard (King wasn't opposed to gimmicks).

But compared to Haymon and Hearn????? There is no comparison. Don King didn't coddle these guys to the extent of Haymon and Hearn.

 

I wish Dana was running boxing.... if it was like UFC can you only imagine?? Best of the best all under one wing fighting each other PERIOD. That's the thing dumbass... boxers get paid a lot which is great for them but bad for the fans of the sport.. once boxers start making big money they're more picky with the fights they take... they also want more money they dont train as hard etc... all this bullshit arises once they're financially set and don't need this shit anymore.. dana is right.. keep these mother fuckers hungry and keep them on the leash... ufc benefits with the money coming in and we benefit with great fights

 

I'm not gonna pretend like I know the solution, because I don't, but Haymon and Hearn have made it too easy for boxers to be UNambitious.

I'm all for boxers getting paid crazy money - unlike pussies in the NBA and MLB, these guys are risking their lives. They're risking their lives more than MMA fighters as well. BUT, there has to be more internal pressure on top guys to face eachother.
