Briggs was a huge puncher, once again it seems people are mixing ability to land cleanly and power (though you made the distinction earlier). Just look at how he makes a big, strong, determined guy like Erickson count stars with a single punch. Yeah it s a kickboxing fight and Erickson's a MMA fighter with a wrestling background, but mighty few hw could have done the same. And it's not like this was a fluke, you could line 10 similar big guy and he would stretch them cold with one punch one after another

One of the hardest puncher ever. Everytime he hit fury with a good shot the gigantic oaf went down. Also has a few insane one punch ko. Seems sacrilegious, but id say hes a better puncher than shaver (whos a bit overrated as a puncher, cause his ko ratio went downhill when he faced guys 220 pounds and higher) amd maybe tyson, but probably a bit lower than lewis

I'd say there is a decent chance that Wilder is the biggest puncher in heavyweight history.

Lennox's power is being overrated in this thread and I think he may be the best heavyweight ever.

Ummmm, what would be Wilder's case over Lewis as a puncher? Let's hear it...

I cant see a case for Wilder hitting harder than Lewis. And that’s not even a knock on Wilder.

Lennox just had scary power in that right hand of his. The SOUND of his punches when he landed them was sickening.

He was a great puncher. When he knocked out Mike Tyson that was sick. Sad but damn scary power. No way wilder hits harder. First of all wilder hasnt koed anyone great. Just a bunch of bums. Im not even sure Fury has a great chin and he couldnt put him away.

I don't think Fury has a great chin, in the sense of like an Oliver McCall. If you catch him he'll hit the canvas. His recovery powers are excellent though.

Agreed with the consensus though, I think Wilder is a huge puncher, but I can't make any case for putting him above Lewis in the power stakes.

Power alone is difficult to define.

For example David Haye was a 8-9ish puncher when he was able to counter an oncoming opponent with his right. Yet when he attacked himself, he was more like 6.

Bit same with Wilder. If he attacks and he gets full extension to his windmill right, the power is 9 or 10, one of the hardest in the history. Yet, if you can smother him even a little, the power reduces quickly.

Wilder is a humongous puncher, but how dangerous he is depends on how dangerous you allow him to be

LOL, Wilder gets another one-punch fuck the guy up knockout. Lennox has very few of these.
    But Wilder doesn't hit harder.

You call that cat scratch a nice punch? That knock out looked fake as hell. He just pawed at him.

Now Caleb Plant knocking out Dirrell was sweet. Before the fight Dirrell said he would never lose to a white boy. That was poetic justice lol.

I think we have to stop bullshiting ourselves and admit Wilder ain't only one of the biggest puncher of all time, he's also one of the best puncher ever. How many fighter can you think of who has knocked cold so may fools with 1 punch, no matter the level of opposition? Doesn't make him great or even very good (I still think Ruddock would ko him), but we need to give credit where credit is due.

Has to be 9/10 power. Fury's chin is incredible to stand up to it for 3 fights.

He does have great power but honestly it didnt seem like he threw it that hard. Im kidding about the ko being fake but I dont know too many people who can knock people out like that with a short punch with half the power/leverage and do that much damage. And Yes Fury has a great chin for going 30 plus rds with Wilder.

Don't think Helenius saw it coming at all. Quick, short, on target and out of nowhere put his lights out.

The thing is, nobody has KOed the same bums with single shots this way.

Morrison, Briggs etc blasted out absolute cans with losing records. Wilder does the same with top-20 level guys.

Yes, they might all be bums too but there are levels there. Lennox fought his share of such bums and didn't decapitate many of them this way.

It doesn't make Wilder a great fighter, but a great puncher he is
