Holmes could have beaten that Ali. He had Liston's jab with way more movement and variety. Ali then was faster, sure, but he'd have to be cos he didn't have his man strength yet. It's a hard fight but I think Holmes can edge it.
Ali just performed in big moments in a way Holmes wasn't capable of. Knowing that fact, I would take even a pre-prime Ali to raise his game and outpoint Larry.

This. The difference between this Ali and the one who schooled Liston is nothing more than drive. He'd have the drive to raise his game just as he did Liston, and he'd beat Holmes IMO.
Not sure about this... No way Holmes fall for the rope a dope and he'd be quicker than this version of Ali with a much sharper jab. He'd be a slight favorite imo.
