Sure he may have thought there was a chance. Nobody would buy lottery tickets if they thought there was absolutely zero possibility. Watch interviews during the promotion and see how many times Garcia uses the word "opportunity".

Realistically he knew he had a snowball's chance in hell of winning. Now watch the "action" itself. How often did it look like he did anything other than trying to survive. Everybody knew their lines without having to read the script. That's because it could really only go in one direction. It wasn't corruption, it was matchmaking.

When you're an undefeated champion like Mikey, I don't think you step into the ring thinking "I have no chance." I think he climbed through the ropes thinking he had a shot.

But very early on, he realized Spence was too big, and not just too big, but just a better fighter.

He took the fight because he knew there was no money at 140 fighting Regis.

He wouldn't have thought he had no chance against Tyson Fury either. He was a veteran and smart fighter though. With his experience both in real championship fights and the gym he didn't need to get in the ring to only then realize "oh this guy is really good and bigger".

The thing is these aren't rational men . Nobody who laces those gloves up is ever rational....they're all opportunists or dreamers or chancers of one sort.

He sure didn’t fight like someone who thought he could win.

I personally feel because as you pointed out his HEART wasn’t into the sport, he figured he’d cash out while he still could.

But he fought like a man looking to survive.

Yet it's amazing how "rational" some get when there is a financial incentive to where rationality is translated purely into monetary gain.

It's the only rationality....it's professional boxing, it's prize fighting.

Right, so that rationale is money or the hope/promise of it.

I think that's about all, the old ethnic lines, which were tenuous at best, have gone. Probably went out with Jack Johnson. Then there's nationalism even hyper nationalism a la Schmeling Vs Louis and I haven't seen that since then, MAYBE Cooney Vs Holmes, but even then that was 40 years ago.

regardless of mikey's motives, the idea he was exploited for spence's gain only makes sense if garcia weren't handsomely paid or somehow tricked into making the fight. just dont know wtf crawford is talking about. guy is grasping at straws to justify his decision to once again duck a big fight.

I almost forgot Fury vs Chisora 3 is happening this Saturday, the same day as Choco vs Gallo 3. I think we all know which fight everyone is going to tune in this weekend.

I could go out to my local Hooters and see hotter chicks than those housewife looking ring girls they had.

Just like tgb promotes fights too. We're all familiar with the situation. If the money comes up short it ain't on Tom brown or Mayweather jr

Mayweather Jr managed davis, I admitted as much already.

He picked the guys opponents. And latched the kid onto him to elevate his popularity

His shell promotional company is no different than any active boxers who create those same entities
