Seems like we are getting back to the dark age of boxing (mid/early 2000's IIRC), when any half decent matchup was on PPV. Awful...

Early-to-mid 2000s were a million times better than the sport is now.

Bigger stars, deeper talent pool, better fights being made, better entities showing those fights. Everything was better.

These are the dark ages of boxing. In my 25 years of being a hardcore, I've never seen it this bad.

Neither deserved/deserves to be on PPV as a matchup.

But promoters/networks can justify putting Davis on PPV because he's a draw.

There's no boxing nor financial sense in putting Regis and Zepeda behind a paywall.

No doubt... And while freakshows were also quite common (Butterbean, St John...), at least they weren't the biggest attraction in the sport

Why do you think boxing is in such bad shape?

I think it's the sign of the times. People seem more interested in MMA or Circus fights like Mayweather vs Jake Paul. Add to that the PBC who pays their fighters to keep everything in house fighting bums. Its a combination of this new internet age, slimeball promoters, and other contact sports rising in popularity above boxing.

Pretty good fight. Not a big gap between these two. Zepeda got good speed.

I love the fact that Prograis could have easily outboxed Zepeda but thats not his style. Both guys put on a great effort. But Prograis is a higher caliber fighter. I like his style. It a weird way he reminds me of Emmanuel Augustus. The drunken master style. Herky Jerky fighter and gritty.

Regis should have beaten Taylor. He's a better fighter than Josh, and it showed at points. He shit the bed in that fight, and I don't think it he would let it happen in a rematch.

I didn't see the fight (only the finish) but he's 33 years old and he's inactive.

I had zero interest in ordering the fight because I never saw a scenario where Zepeda could win. He's merely a solid fighter.

As I said a hundred times: If he couldn't beat Ramirez, why the fuck would people think he had any chance against Prograis?

Anyway, I still maintain that Prograis at 100% beats Taylor. He has more tools than Josh. Taylor won by simply out-willing him.

Prograis lost to Taylor because he wasn't as good - very close, but not enough. Not because he shit the bed.

I disagree, but we'll see. Or maybe we won't see. I'd like to see it, but should Taylor win the Catt rematch (I would think he would, but it's no given) I would expect the next step to be Taylor vs Lopez.

I wouldn't mind a rematch, but I just don't see it on the cards.
