Dutch need to play the way they did against Spain in 2010. They need to take the villain route and be nasty on the defensive side or they’ll be cut apart.

Judging by this World Cup performance, Messi can't possibly be shot enough to go to the MLS

I still don’t see Argentina winning it but good to see them keep their heads in the penalty shoot out.

France would be hard for them to beat.

Used to watch Arsenal games with at Lahaina Coolers on Maui. Gooners on vacation would show up randomly and it was pretty cool. Most of the games were on at ungodly hours due to the time difference.

Las Vegas has the games on in sportsbooks and bars.

That said mostly the games are at very early morning hours, so I just stay home and watch.

Haven’t enjoyed a single game The Dutch played this WC. It was very uncharacteristic, defensive minded, unattractive football. Granted, we momentarily don’t have the players we use to have, but even still, to play the way we did, hurtful to watch. If it would’ve ended up with a result, it would have been bearable, but now, nothing but sour grapes…

The winner of the France-England match should be the favorites but it's not a foregone conclusion.

Last game of football I watched in a pub was Real 3 1 Man City ecl semi final, April of last year. It's not generally my scene. It can be partisan..

It's actually the case that there's no monsters left in World football..last to even get close was Spain and their apogee was 2012.

England under the right manager and with a tournament win under their belts to get the mental block out of the way could be a "monster", as you put it. Loads of these kids have done big things at the U-21 level and below. Not on the level of Spain or anything before anyone goes mental, that Spanish side is the best international team of all time imo, but they could be at the sharp end of big tournaments for a good while.

Saying that, if France win two in a row then surely they have to be considered a monstrous side.

It seems that way. I don't think the "gap has narrowed" much either, but perhaps the psychology and expectations have changed a bit. Less and less the lower tier sides are playing with fear of the monsters whereas the bigger ones might be conversely complacent.

I wouldn't really consider Croatia "low tier" but i think a lot of other sides would have mentally thrown in the towel when Brazil went up 1-0 in extra time. "We gave it our all, kept level with the mighty Brazilians but in the end they just edged it. We can hold our heads high" That usual fluff. Instead there was time left to play and they still tried to win instead of believing a strong effort was good enough.

Not everyone can or will emulate Croatia but i think we might start seeing more sides believing they can win rather than just being happy to be there.

Croatia are wily veterans. They have a ton of players who have solid fundamental skills but are old. What has impressed me most about them is their game management, they know when to go forward and when to sit back and conserve energy. I obviously want England to win it but if they don't then I'll be rooting for Croatia.

That BBC radio commentary today was a fucking disgrace of oestrogen-laden screeching/shouting. How dare they serve that shit up and call it anything other that shit.

Literally just a woman shouting in a sterile monotone of enforced shoutiness.

It was no worse in content than this guy, though, ramming Neymar and SELECAO and shit down our throats.
