Warrington looked like a man who had been out for over a year but that doesn't explain why he tried to go to war with a guy who hit far harder and more accurately than him. It was an awful performance and he got destroyed.

As I watched it I thought I saw a man with a terrible gameplan. It looked like they'd prepared to just bomb this guy out. When that didn't work, and started to backfire horribly, they looked lost.

I just watched the fight. Warrington would be wise to never pursue a rematch. I dont see how he could ever beat Lara.

History is not on Warrington's side. Guys 30 and older with a high octane style like Warrington's, when they get destroyed like that, they usually are never the same again.

If I'm his team, I build him back up against one or two no-hopers, then move up to 130 and cash him out against a Stevenson, Loma, or Davis.

 

Some people thought Warrington was best featherweight in the world. And the odds reflected that.

 

I dont think a guy as limited talentwise as Warrington should ever be a 50 to 1 favorite.

And I dont care what he was considered - I've seen numerous fights of his, the the only thing I ever came away thinking was, "Good, decent fighter."

The fact that he was considered the featherweight best is a testament to the fact that featherweight is the weakest its ever been.

Warrington is inferior to a prime Scott Harrison, and we saw that in a strong featherweight era, Harrison was never considered more than a fringe guy.

 

Yeah, but there's a real difference than that here. Warrington, second rate or not, was indisputably one of the top five featherweights in the world.

Lara couldn't make it past the minute mark with Eliot Chavez two years ago. He was a 50/1 underdog, who had beaten absolutely nobody. Whether or not you think he should be favoured by that much or not, this is a collosal upset.

This isn't a second rater losing to a second rater. This is a perceived bum beating the shit out of a top five fighter in the division.

 

Ehhh, given how limited Warrington is, it's just not a shocking result to me.
