Even if that's the case he was the first Black English speaking Defender to score in a Champions league final.

The odd thing that I've noticed is that, although Harland is racking up insane numbers, most of his teammates are scoring less. That is - adding Harland hasn't increased the number of goals Shitty are scoring.

Yes, good spot. They aren't running away with the GS and GD like they usually do. That has normally been almost an extra point for them each season.

Very fast start from Arsenal. Newcastle need to ride it out and wait for things to settle.

Was a great game despite the 0-0. Enjoyed that.

It is merry go around of mediocrity.....has your uncle ever been charged with tax evasion and claimed his dog did the accounting? Do you have a really bad fake tan, dyed hair, an earpiece and an outlandish sheepskin coat? Do you come across as barely more civilised than your average late 70s long-haired football hooligan? Do you know "Tommo" and "Macca" and "Merse" and "Cammy" and the rest of the boys in the studio?

If not then there's probably nothing for you here . Kindly move along.

You worry about Everton's finances if they go down- they've spent hundreds of mil on players while spending hundreds of mil on the stadium. They cant be sitting on much of a cushion

Their cushion is of the Heysel brand. They've been sat on it for fucking years.

I do feel for them though.

I've never met a bad Evertonian. Every single one of them was a prattling rattling chatterbox but dead sound.

From my mostly uneducated perch, Everton look to me to be in extremely deep trouble. They've essentially frittered away £700m on shit players who've taken them to the brink of relegation. They have been desperately fiddling their books to try and circumvent FFP, but the cat is out of the bag and all eyes are on them. They can't spend their way out of bother, even if throwing more money at it is the answer.

They've got to get rid of Lampard and desperately need to get someone competent in. It might not be enough with those players, but it's a start.

There has developed a bit of a rivalry between NUFC and EFC in recent years, mostly as a result of Everton forming some kind of bond with the mackems. How much of it is limited to Twatter and how much is an actual rivalry is open to debate.

For my part, I like Everton. As a club and a fanbase. They are a proper big club and I've never met a Scouse mackem I didn't like. Good, salt of the earth people (as almost all scousers are, in fact). I hope they save themselves.

@meetthefeebles , looking at this from a fan perspective. Regardless of where you finish this season, Newcastle have obviously surpassed all expectations. How many players away do you think you are from mounting a genuine title challenge (if you don't see Newcastle as legit contenders this season)? Who would you get rid of, if any? I really don't think you're as far off as you think you are.

We are at least four players short of that IMO.

Our back five is routinely excellent. Trippier and Botman are legit world class, while Pope, Burn and Schar are all very good, international class defenders (inc. Burn, who is very underrated). Some depth of cover is needed, but not much else there.

Our midfield is a real hotch-potch. Bruno is world class. Joelinton is the most remarkable transformation I've ever seen in a footballer. Eighteen months ago I called him the worst player I'd ever seen in a black and white shirt. Now he's an indispensable defensive midfield unit smashing elite midfielders everywhere. I'd keep both.

Saint Maximin has world class games and potential but is very inconsistent and injury prone. Almiron is having an insane purple patch but I don't think it's a permanent thing. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't it. I think both need upgrading. Willock and Longstaff graft their balls off and have endless energy but they both lack quality. I'd keep both as they are young and could improve but you don't win titles with those in your side. The rumoured transfer of Madison would be a massive upgrade - I'd make us favourites for a top 4 spot if he signed this month.

Up top we have Wood, who is a willing hand but old, slow and limited. Wilson is excellent but his hamstrings are made of Weetabix. He can't be relied upon, sadly. We spent £60m on Isak who looked mustard in the three games before he got injured, but I've no idea how good he is. We need another forward.

Outside that, we have no squad depth at all. Every other squad player, except Targett, Dubravka and Anderson (who might be brilliant one day) are shite and need moved and replaced. That's the big thing, really. Our first eleven is probably competitive against anyone right now, but when the press tires the legs, like last night, you're bringing on Jacob fucking Murphy and other dross.

Even with all that there is no guarantee. The same consortium that purchased the club should also purchase the EPL thus ensuring whatever result it is they would like.
