I actually think the opposite. Laguna schools him. Laguna beat better fighters and had a better prime. Beating a prime Ortiz for the lightweight title holds more weight than beating a raw Duran in a non-title fight.
This is a mismatch. It's not that DeJesus is bad. Not at all. Laguna's length and speed with the off beat, slippery style would be really bad for Esteban. DeJesus wouldn't really be able to get away from Laguna's attacks, and he wouldn't really be able to get in a position for his own.
