On other forums there are talks how Ennis was 'exposed' cos he couldn't put the guy away. Such nonsense. It is just damn difficult to look good against a guy who doesn't engage at all. Same thing happened to Beterbiev when he had trouble putting away a German survivor, and he was written off by some as well
Honestly my experience is that practically all chicks lie about shit like this, especially pretty ones that have an army of white knights ready to wipe away her tears and sympathize with the bullshit fabrications. It’s simply a case of something being there ‘for the taking’ and these chicks do it because that’s the society we live in today. Amber Heards are everywhere, ready to start wailing about how badly they were abused the minute their guy gets sick of their shit and shows them the door.
Ennis faced a durable, negative soviet stinker. Perhaps this will help him get fights vs top guys who think he looked vulnerable. I doubt it tho
Hard to see Ryan winning. Seems pretty predictable how it'll play out: Ryan builds an early lead behind his range and speed, but eventually gets caught and put out. I'd be kind of surprised if it plays out any other way.
Yeah Ryan’s chin and defense are just such a question mark for me. I think he needs to knock Tank out. The longer it goes the better for Tank. That said, hoping he pulls this one off.
Ennis showed some flaws against Karen but he still got the job done by showing more offense against someone that fought negatively. This is something that he can use as a learning experience. Although I think it’s safe to say that he isn’t on Spence or Crawford’s level and I could even see Ortiz being a much more difficult fight for him.
Tank Davis proving once again that he’s a dangerous puncher that can end a fight at anytime. His power is really no joke consider how well García was actually doing before Davis got in with a good punch that changed the fight. Bit of an anticlimactic ending since it looked like it was heating up to be a really good fight but that just shows how potent of a puncher Tank is. Having said that, that low punch output and relying on his power to bail him out isn’t going to keep saving him. Sooner or later that’s going to work against him much like it did Wilder. I’m really curious if that’s something Ryan García can take full advantage of. The question really is if he’s able to take Tank’s power well or if he’ll be able to avoid them. We’ll have to see.
One thing for sure, Tank is in love with his power. This fight probably made him more so. Eventually he will simply get outboxed. At his current weight he’s a small guy for the division. Ryan Garcia may well be the one to do it.
Agreed with both the above posts. I like Tank as a boxer, but he's definitely in love with his power. Eventually somebody will be able to take it and see out a points win. The frustrating thing, at least from my perspective, is that he clearly has talent and could be a much better boxer than he currently is. He wouldn't actually need need to rely on the power so much but he just never seems to improve on that front, might be too late now.
Davis is a much better boxer than he’s given credit for. Small, short…short armed. watch his boxing. He is blamed for “being in love with his power” Maybe he is. But his boxing is underrated
i agree. plus, it's not like he's throwing wild haymakers. he picks his shots well, sets them up, throws from creative angles....that all falls under the category of "boxing" and he's damn good at it.
SMH... bunch of bitches!! I thought all this was already agreed upon...WTF. Was Ryan hoping/betting on Tank getting ko'd by Hector?
That ppv.com telecast was trash. It would cut off every few rounds and had to be reset, for me at least
I fell asleep early for the Davis-Garcia fight. Caught the results the next day. Mind you, that Saturday I was still battling the last stages of the flu, so I felt too run down to stay up for it.
Ppv model??? Don’t try selling us a Big Mac for $30… At this time in boxing the only fights that should/could be on PPV are Fury vs Usyk(the UK have ppv?) I don’t see it selling 400k in the states & Spence vs Crawford maybe it crack 1m buys with a ton of publicity from ESPN, fox sports, etc behind it..
Not right now. I can't say never again, because who knows. Tank-Ryan has the best shot at it of any current matchup. I'm now less optimistic though. Tank should have done more than 67k PPV buys against Hector, piracy or not. Only way a matchup could have done over 1 mil in buys is if a middle or super middle was a true mainstream star, and fought Canelo. But no one at 160-168 is known in the mainstream outside of Canelo.
The PPV model has basically eaten itself. Promoters these days don't understand the value of the undercard. Actually, to give the cunt a modicum of credit, I would say Hearn is the only one who gets it right now, in that particular respect. So many promoters put their top guy in as the main event, then put their second guy on another card to maximise profit, all short-game stuff, without realising if you put that guy on the same card you build him up and bring him more exposure to casuals. I can't talk from a US perspective as I don't live there, but back in the 90s I remember Winky vs Bingham, Naz vs somebody, followed by Benn-Collins or something like that, then over to the States for some scraps before ending with Tyson-Holyfield. Yes the main event was obviously huge, but it was all about building the next big stars at the same time.
Love him or hate him, King was all the time best at putting on quality undercards. It's so ironic. King fleeced fighters, but knew how to give the fans their money's worth. The new model is the complete opposite: Fighters are compensated well, but we the fans are getting fleeced. Can't win.
