This one is basically a done deal. Unfortunately, it's fucking PPV, not regular ESPN like lying ass Arum promised. Early predictions? I think Haney should be the favorite based on youth and size.
I dont think it matters. Top level boxers live in the gym and like 1% of the fighting they do is actually competitive in the ring. What matters is the size and Loma struggled with Fimo who was alot bigger than him but still is smaller than Haney. I think it’ll be an 8-4 type fight. Lola will be able to win rounds but not at sustained pace.
Fast twitchy guys like Loma always stay sharper with activity. Not gym activity, fight activity. Floyd made it work only fighting once a year, but truthfully, and I know it's hard for Loma fans to admit this but: Floyd had far more natural ability and skill than Loma. I still maintain that Loma is one of the most overrated talents in history. I digress though. Guys like Loma need to be active. He hasn't been, and he looked old in his last fight.
May the best man win. Either Loma still has one good fight left in him to edge Haney or Haney does his thing and wins convincingly.
Once Taylor-Lopez gets made official, then this has all of sudden become the strongest start to a year in quite a few years.
Haney is very good, fast rangey and strong at the weight. Interested to see if Loma can work his way inside. I doubt it.
I don't think Loma's chance are good. I think age + inactivity + Haney being much bigger are gonna be the major factors here. Haney's gonna win clearly.
If Loma can seriously hurt Haney, then he can pull it off. It's gonna be hard for him to have success at long range given that Haney is so much taller, rangier, and at this stage more athletic.
I'm keen to see if Loma's footwork can break Haney's defence and if he can turn him up close to expose some gaps. Haney doesn't have the power to spook Lomachenko so it could be interesting, but obviously you'd have to have Haney favourite.
Harsh to say, but after seeing loma look like a total amateur against a guy whos pretty much an amateur himself, i cant pick him against any good foghter at 135
Loma definitely hasn’t looked the same lately. I don’t give him much chance unless he goes back to the whale.
I didn't watch lomachenkos last fight but it's hard for me to picture haney outclassing him. Haney isn't that good or talented. And he doesn't hit as hard as Lopez to make lomachenko hesitant
TBH.. I think Haney is a lot better than boxing fans wanna admit. He has no charisma, and his style is boring, so people don't like him. I don't like him. Fans want badly for him to suck, but unfortunately, I think he's gonna be hard to beat. Conversely, Loma isn't as good as fans want him to be. His style is electric and pleasing to the eye, and fans badly wanted for him to be as good as Roy or Floyd, but he just isn't. He isn't even close.
Loma wasn't very good to begin with, coupled with the fact that he's borderline shot, makes Haney a big favorite, i think in my mind
It's not that Loma isn't very good, he is. Just not as good as people wanted him to be. I don't think that Haney is gonna be an easy fight for anyone at 135-140. I wish that weren't true. I wanna see him get murked (not literally, if you're reading this, Ja Morant). But I don't think he's gonna be easy to beat.
Haney weakens himself very badly to make 135. It didn't matter vs kambozo but could prove telling late in the fight vs a more skilled opponent
Guys who are as young and fresh as Haney can usually recover from the weight strain and still perform at 100%. It's the 30+ guys who get weakened. That's why Taylor's weight strain is a concern against Lopez, because Josh is no spring chicken. Haney is.
Exactly. Does nobody remember Haney stumbling around and clinging for 3 rounds to stay alive vs Linares? That happened.
Good matchup, but with Loma getting up in age and his inactivity, I'm starting to tilt more and more toward Haney
