These are precisely the reasons why he isn't a massive star. In today's market, he's basically boring. MTF
Yarde is not at another level. He wouldn't have beaten Bivol tonight..what is George Warren talking about? Tommy Fury Vs Jake Paul in Saudi Arabia. ...... hopefully it's in the desert at noon.
Id give alvarez a chance vs beterbiev. much, much better chance than alvarez has in a rematch with bivol.
The Twitter trends have spoken. It was the gratest fite. Yarde was 4/1 to win. Buster Douglas sneers at your "massive odds"
Bunce is a A grade shill and he' s not especially knowledgeable either. Don't understand why you UK guys seem to like him.
I don't know anyone who does. I could never stand him. Shrieking, fat, know-nothing bag of hot air. Squeaks and squeals like an overexcited teenage girl with a voice that makes Minnie Mouse sound like Barry White.
Nice fight. Yarde had learned a lot since the Kovalev fight and Beterbiev's style suited him well. I still maintain my take that if he had been brought up properly, he could be really good by now. I still pick Bivol over Beterbiev but it would be a splendid fight. Thus it won't happen
I generally don't have a strong opinion of Yarde, but if I was leaning one way it was closer to disliking him. His arrogance and trainer were tiresome and I found him very overhyped for a long time. I was also routing against him when he fought Arthur. However, the way he's handed his loss here and his attitude towards having the fight stopped by his team is very, very mature and a very healthy way of looking at it. A lot of boxers should take note.
He was right about the stoppage. Yards chances of doing shit were disappearing..Butterbievs chances of hurting Yard were expanding more and more. Bunce used to be a good guy but he's cashing in now as his career ends. Think of him as the inverse Jeremy Clarkson..
The gyms these guys frequent have slowly become pestholes of box-bottery over the past 20 years . That well known clown Dilian Whyte has sessions in his gym which involve him roaring at powerful kids fighting half-assed no-hopers. They don't learn anything and they're always "on the cusp" of a breakthrough fight.... But nothing happens.
I think he's a local bully with some skills. But Yardes not the issue. He's just a boxer, a good boxer, plenty of them around. The people promoting him are the problem..they are SO full of shit.
Good fight I have to say. I've said it before but Yarde is one of those guys who is naturally quite talented but has been let down by coaching. He knows some advanced stuff like the pull-counter etc, but has forgone some of the basic, fundamental stuff, which will always get found out at the highest level.
Its been quite a while since i enjoyed a live fight as much as that, the 4th, 5th & 7th in particular were classics with back and forth action which warranted Barrera-Morales/bowe-holy comparisons. Nonetheless i had beterbiev clearly ahead going into the 8th and, a moment or two in the 5th aside, always thought he looked like the guy who'd be left standing. Just that bit more economical & efficient...he can put horribly tiring pressure on guys while actually doing fairly little
Yeah Beterbiev had a solid lead for me too at the time of the stoppage. Was surprised the judges had it close, but also not surprised I guess. Cracking fight though, agreed.
That always colours my opinion. It's a lot like Barrera Vs McKinney....great action, no real doubt about the result.
Yeah just watching it over..... I can't understand why anybody would mention Yarde in the same breath as Finnegan or Conteh. Guy took a beating. Never hard to find. Defense is stand still, cover up. But....he might well take Canelo OUT.
