I rewatched Valero vs Mosquera. Always love this fight, such a war. Having said that, Valero really was shit. I have no clue what you see in him. Casamayor would have knocked him out at 130. Frietas would have knocked him out as well. Chico would have slaughtered him. Of the recent junior lightweights, Loma, Tank, and Shakur all would have stopped Valero. He was dog shit. Fun to watch, but dog shit.

That makes no sense considering that Frietas was a bigger hitter than Valero at 130. It's perplexing what you see in him. He had zero defense, a dodgy chin, and appeared to cut easily. Casa would have lit his ass up.
Valero in the gym looked alot more dangerous than casamayor. Stronger, quicker. Very skilled kid. Didn't get the chance to show it in the ring vs elite opposition. But the guy I seen at his best was way too much for casamayor. And like I said casamayor was one of my favorite fighters.
Gym legends don't mean anything. Ayala Jr. was supposedly beating the shit outta Pipino Cuevas in the gym as a teen, but it doesn't matter because Ayala never beat any top fighter in the ring. In Valero's final fight, he was underwhelming against DeMarco. Broner of all people took apart DeMarco far more impressively.
why do you say he had a dodgy chin? guy was underrated as a boxer. his 1-2 over and over again was a nightmare for opponents.
Valero lucked out. He should have gone psycho one fight later after he got exposed. Remember, Valero vs Bradley was a done deal at the time Valero went away. Tim would have 100% beaten the living shit outta him.
Casamayor gives Valero a boxing lesson and could possibly stop him late. He wasn't just a pure boxer but also a mean SOB.
I tend to err on the side of Casa being a bit overrated sometimes, very good though he was at his best. More of a hard, crafty spoiler than a master technician. He would've outclassed that cunt Valero though. He gets more mileage out of knocking out a set of no hopers than what all those porn film directors got out of Jenna Jameson.
