Admittedly pointless thread, more of a trivia thing really. All the Fury-Usyk rematch clause chat got me into a conversation with a colleague and fellow boxing fan, and the conversation came to fighters who never fought an opponent more than once. Current guys like Crawford, Spence and Loma haven't to my knowledge, but that could happen as their careers pan out. Keeping it to retired fighters of a high profile, I came up with: Vitali Hatton Khan I'm probably missing loads but these are the only ones I can think of at the moment. Hamed fought British journeyman Peter Buckley twice, Buckley was the only fighter to take him to a points decision at the time, so Naz fought him again to prove he could stop him (which he duly did). Ended up being the only rematch Hamed had in his career. Anyone got any more? Again, purely a trivia thing.
Maybe Zarate. That's without delving deep into BoxRec. But off the top of my head I don't think Zarate ever had a rematch. Could be wrong.
Mario Viet has never been mentioned as much in his life as he has in this thread - not even by his mother.
Actually, I heard on some boxing forum that he did in fact have a rematch. Mario Veit was the name, in case you haven’t heard of him.
We try our best to help. While we're on the subject did you have any more Mario Veit related inquiries?
