Jose Benavidez Sr on Jermall Charlo.

I know Benavidez Sr is a dick, but here I 100% believe him. Jermall seems like a full blown alcoholic, and it seems like the bottle is whats derailed his career.

I thought this thread was going to be about De Le Hoya.

I mean, Oscar enjoys his liquor and coke, but he's retired and financially set for life, so it's okay.

Charlo is still an "active" fighter and clearly being overcome by addiction.

I would say stick a fork in him TBH.

Charlo would have done much worse than Plant did on Saturday. Benavidez would stop Charlo, and it be one sided imo.

Ryder is decent and is getting this fight for two reasons:-

1..he "beat"/got past Danny Jacobs, and he was "robbed Vs Smith" so he's "earned" the shot...

    2. He's the sort of limited Brit that Alvarez feels is safe to face after the Beevol debacle.

That, unfortunately, is how fights get made.

It'd be hilarious if it backfires, but there's no chance it will backfire given its in Mexico.

Doubtful that Ryder would be good enough to win even on neutral territory.

Exactly, this is the most careful of careful decisions. And nothing will be left to chance.

I remember when England's Andy Holligan fought JC Chavez in Mexico (the same card when Simon Brown hilariously turned the supposed P4P king, Terry Norris, into gumby legs.) The fight poster said "CHAVEZ vs HOOLIGAN."

    Ryder lost to rocky fielding

As I said, I doubt he's good enough to beat Ginger even of neutral turf. He's an acceptable fight though so long as the Benavidez fight or Bivol rematch is next.

Personally, I think we're gonna Canelo vs Benavidez in September. Canelo is gonna understand that he has a better chance of beating Bena than winning a Bivol rematch, and that the Benavidez fight is a bigger money fight.

In name only, he should have clearly won that.

Ryder would beat Charlo's drunk ass at this stage in Jermall's career, so it's a better matchup than Canelo-Charlo.

He lost to Nick Blackwell. That's even worse.

No it's the Smith fight he "won/lost" but getting stopped by a guy Chris Eubank put in a coma is a much bigger red flag going into the Canelo fight.

Holligan never had a fucking chance. You know when they're playing Double entendres on your name that you've got zero clout.

But worst of all was poor Darren Barker....his big big moment at Madison Square Garden...fucking disgrace, really

Yeah, I've seen both, I thought he beat Fielding and Smith. But being stopped by Blackwell is the bad result.

This reminds me of the Oscar vs Derrell Coley fight. Guy is made for erasing the stench of a previous fight.

This thread turned into a Canelo vs Ryder thread when it's really about Charlo being an alchy.

I believe it was the fight poster in Mexico. I thought someone just fucked up and it was pretty funny.
