Young girls have advantages in both sports. By the time a girl hits 18, her fat to muscle ratio is usually too high to pull off those jumps. Look at the Russian figure skating teams. They've repeatedly had world champions at 15 or 16 who can't even make the team four years later.

 

I've no objection to women's sports, at all. I just resent having the crap shoved down our throats. 80% of soccer is inflated rubbish and women's soccer and how it's packaged fall squarely into that.

I suppose the best baseball team in the world is whoever wins the World Series but its a bit like the heavyweight championship in the pre 1990s.....you really don't got a lot of other people taking part to begin with.

I mean the European Champions League is basically the deepest tournament in the world but we still have the World Club Championship every Winter to determine who the "World" Champions are.

 

It is slightly less cringey than the Superbowl Champs calling themselves world champions since baseball, unlike American football, actually is a global sport.

 

It's still cringey. It would be like if you and I created an invite only thumb-wrestling or midget tossing league, invited a few others and then dubbed the winner of the competition "world champion". That's not to diminish the athleticism or completeness of the NFL, but the example stands. It's a private club played by clubs (franchises) in one country. The word "world" is devoid of meaning.

I think you guys put too much thinking into this. They're not going to change the name of the World Series after a hundred fucking years. And calling the Superbowl Champs "World Champions" is just tongue in cheek. No one actually thinks of world dominance when they say it. They're the champions of the NFL. They'd most likely beat the CFL champions by 30.

Personally, I'd like to see the MLB champion play the Japanese champion in a real World Series.

 

I demand they change it. It hurts my feelings.
