Is Serie A coming back? When I first started following the sport, I kept hearing the league was in decline, but seems to me that Madrid and Barca aside, overall Serie A is the second strongest league in the world. Def higher quality than Bundesliga.

 

I think it is yeah, and I'm really happy to see it. Serie A was THE league in the 90s, every elite player worth his salt played in Italy back then. It was what the Prem is now basically. In actual fact the Premier League back then was seen as a kind of behind the times neanderthal league. I doubt Serie A will ever reclaim that kind of glory again but if they're up there I'll be happy. I'll always say it, but tactically NOBODY can fuck with the Italians when it comes to football.

 

I think they'd have gone through.....those 2 late goals broke their spirit. United are flat track bullies. If they get you going they'll roll you. But if they don't, they fold.

Yeeaaaaa, looks like City is gonna take the league. Unfuckinbelievable.

 

Arsenal basically HAVE to beat City at the Etihad now or it's done. The Liverpool game you can understand and it wasn't a bad result, but the West Ham and Southampton draws are inexplicable. City are locked in right now.

 

This squad usually has a bad 3 games then pulls out of it and goes on a winning streak. That is desperately needed here. I do think City will drop points also. Last year Arsenal got zero points from 3 games. This time at least they got 3 points. It will be crucial.

 

Defeat after defeat after defeat after defeat...and then we go and win away from home against the runaway Championship leaders. Football is daft sometimes

 

Why would a 3rd tier football commentator on a 2nd rate highlights tv show feel the neec to use the words "unscheduled rapid disassembly" in describing affairs that took place in a game of football last week......on today of all days?

I think its a LOT to expect a side to come from 6th to win it.

 

Doncaster, hopelessly adrift, have an absolutely proper little stadium . Nobody at the games though.

Always had a bit of a soft spot for Doncaster, in the mid-2000's they played some beautiful football. Like a lower-league Barca at times.

 

I find it easy to watch things like the English football league show on terrestrial TV.

Well.... There's 2 SERIE A teams in the ECL final 4 and two in the Europa League final 4. They are guaranteed representation in both finals because i cant see both Juve and Roma lose. Pretty suggestive of an increase in overall quality.

The league's still in pretty poor financial straights - negative net transfer spend, crumbling stadiums, tv deals lagging further behind the top 3 leagues. They've done well in europe this year but i reckon that'll go down as a blip in the long term trend line
