Here's this week's fight, highlighting a virtuoso performance that sometimes doesn't get enough attention. Orlando Canizales' title winning dismantling of hard-hitting Kelvin Seabrooks. Canizales, overall, had a disappointing resume, but that's no doubt he was one helluva fighter. This was his best, and most comprehensive performance.
Canizales beating Bones Adams is the fight I would have gone with, but that's a long time ago. Let me check boxrec. Seabrooks is before I watched boxing.
That fight is a lot like the Arguello v Mancini fight. I believe that either Arguello or Canizalez could have ended those fights just about whenever they chose but they realized that the young guy was going to fight about it so they just did their work and their time. You have to give Bones a lot of credit, though. Those early rounds were hard on him and it would have been easy for him to come unraveled but he pulled himself together.
Really good fight, Canizales looked superb both times against Seabrooks. I always thought Canizales’ performance against Billy Hardy rematch was his finest showing.
