I was impressed by the pace Xanelo maintained. He threw punches continuously.

He threw a lot but he looked really slow and was clearly winded in the championship rounds.

If Alvarez was talking financial terms I think bivol may tell him to go fuck himself

He has some form of leverage in that the entire boxing world saw him lay a whipping on alvarez

If Alvarez wants to continue his career and maintain any level of respect among fans he'll need to see that guy again

If he just wants to stick around for a few more paydays and doesn't care about how he's viewed then maybe he could face some more mid level guys like Ryder

Bivol should certainly warrant a higher guarantee for a rematch. First fight he took a very low 1, with ppv upside

Ultimately Alvarezs ego is too big for him to avoid the rematch

I didn't watch the fight. Did it look like Canelo gets whupped by Benavidez at this point?

If benavidez is as durable as Ryder he'll fuck Alvarez up. Even if he's half as tough it will be difficult for this version of Alvarez to fight at that pace. Perhaps Alvarez wasn't up for the fight Saturday and has 1 last big effort in him against a more dangerous foe. We shall see

I understand you only get what you negotiate, not what you deserve, but when you've beaten a guy, haven't you already "deserved"....and when Benavidez is waiting in the wings, what's there to negotiate?

Bivol should take what's on offer, beat him again, then call out Benavidez and treat him like Canelo treated Bivol.

If you can't get paid on Tuesday in Dallas, get paid on Wednesday in Phoenix.

It sucks, but I can't see another way around it.

Bivol is probably- rightly - convinced that Benavidez avoids Bivol or calls himself "the draw" all over again.

Bivol has 0 leverage, none, nada. Only hardcore fans care about him and that's obviously not where the money is coming from. Furthermore, unless Canelo plans on campaigning at 175 lbs permanently (doubtful), his defeat is quite easy to justify as ''simply a weight class too high'' and move on.

In other words, Canelo could basically offer him ''worse'' terms than for the 1st fight and there's not much Bivol could do. Either take it and make significantly more than you would for any other fight (vs a guy you already beat comfortably to booth). Or refuse and continue facing bigger, potentially more dangerous, foes in obscurity for small money. Yeah it's not fair but that's how it is.

Bivol ''only'' saving grace is if he's really able to go down to 168lbs. Then he could make the case Canelo is avoiding him and maybe generate some mainstream hype; which would gain him some leverage in negotiations.

Alvarez bivol first fight did less than 600k

The rematch is a much bigger money maker

Bigger yes. Much bigger I don't think so. But the real question is if it's bigger than Canelo-Benavidez (doubtful), which on paper, is a far more winnable fight for Canelo.

True, Bivol can play the waiting game and hope Canelo runs out of marketable opponents. But that's a dangerous bet imo considering Canelo is at the tail end of his career and still has plenty of options in the lower weight classes (most would gladly move up a few pounds, or more, to win the Canelo lottery).

Bivol Should Most CERTAINLY Call Canelo's Bluff - Not Only Did He Beat Canelo, He Did it CLEARLY...& as REED Types, Bivol's Still Undefeated...

Canelo's Acting as if Bivol's LOST in the Interim; He HASN'T...Beating the HOUSE Fighter Doesn't Entitle You to Purse Parity w/the House Fighter, but it Justifies a LARGER Purse for a RE w/the House Fighter, Even if it's Only a Couple 100k More Than the 1st Fight...More is MORE...

Canelo's Running the Risk of TARNISHING His Legacy a Bit - Let's Say Bivol DOES Call His Bluff...Then Canelo Absolutely HAS to Face Benavidez in September...If Canelo LOW BALLS the Guy That Beat Him (Bivol), Then FAILS to Face Benavidez THIS YEAR, His Boxing Rep Will Take a HIT...

Not Even a Charlo or Andrade Fight Would QUIET the "Canelo is Ducking Benavidez" Talk, @ That Point...

Canelo's Back is Inching Closer and CLOSER to the Wall...

Well when you won't rematch the guy who recently whipped you it opens up all manner of opportunities for everybody else, doesn't it?

It's nowhere near being the worst example of an undeserving contender and by the time it was over he'd proven his worth.

Ryder has common opponents with Alvarez and whipped both of them the same, Judges be damned.

    Exactly
Ryder is so far form being the most underserving title challenger, he doesnt even being called as such. Hes a decent, if unspectacular boxer, who has a fairly solid resume

Went to my friends house and watched it since he recorded it.

Canelo looks slow. He’s starting to push his punches now, his reflexes (offense and defense) are dimming, and his power doesn’t seem to be the same either.

I don’t think he should fight Bivol. He’d have a better chance at beating Benavidez but he might have waited too long to fight him. Just my honest thoughts.

A bivol rematch is pointless and uninteresting.

Exactly....it pisses me off when future hof become old and delusional. It's a slap in the face to boxing fans to make this. Canelo doesn't deserve a rematch it wasn't even close. No chance of beating bivol.

Much much easier fight than Benavidez. Comparable money. Makes sense that he would.

Charlo can use the money to stock up on liquor and pills.

    Makes (Canelo) Sense…

Collectively, Boxing Fans KNOW Who the Charlo’s Are and it’s Safe to Say They Teeter on the Unlikable Side w/Most…

Shit Talking Black Guy MOVING UP to ‘68 to Face Canelo - It’ll SELL, But it Certainly WON’T Quiet the “Canelo is DUCKING Benavidez” Talk…In Fact, It Will Only BOLSTER That Opinion…

But Yeah, REED Could Definitely See Canelo Going the Charlo Route in September…Good Point…

Charlo hasnt fought in 2 years. never fought at 168. it would be hypocritical of alvarez to grant him a fight after all his complaints that other fighters havent faced anyone to earn the payday.

Charlo…good I don’t like neither one of those mothfukers!

Hopefully Canelo puts a hurting on Jermall or the other one they can both get it. Canelo should do a gimmicky PPV he fights both of them on the same night..
