Im pretty resigned. My main hope is that the structure there might be such a mess that Ange goes in, has a good look then backs away from it. I said that Australian guy Munn was DoF but that turns out to be not quite true: he seems to be a step higher than that overseeing all fitbaw operations at some sort of 'strategic' level while they hunt for another guy as 'director of football'. The guy from frankfurt just turned them down for that role citing a lack of clarity as to wtf his actual job was and his sense that levy would be sticking his oar in at every level. So it sounds like Ange would be 4th down the pecking order when it comes to decisions like transfer targets etc - maybe even things like tactics if Spurs are going down an RB club type route. Ange has basically turned sellik into his own wee personal fiefdom with even the youth team playing based on his tactics & the board giving him final say on transfers. I can't read the guys mind but he might put enough value on that control for it to outweigh the big bucks & bright lights.

Some tentative rumours that big Rafa would be Dermot's top target. That'd dry my eyes pretty quick, he'd be grand. The other rumour is Pep's number two Borrel. Kompany & Arteta currently acting as good adverts for that approach & Celtic have city group links thru Mark Lawwell.

If Rafa was offered i think it'd come with a fair bit of control. In any case Im trying to talk myself off the ledge here: you're meant to affirm that there's reasons to carry on, not argue against it

The only positive arising from last night's shitshow is that Mourinho made such an arse of himself that any higher tier club considering him might say nah...Sevilla still not making it out of group stages of CL next time though, full deserved last night though, Rakitic rolling back years

Postecoglou would be a decent fit for Spurs, and will be happy to be there as opposed to indifference to all bug paycheck, which would likely be case for Enrique...Potter is also good on paper but may be too soon after Chelsea trauma...wouldn't touch coach rodgers

Was a strange day yesterday at Hampden between the processional nature of the game & the Ange situation hanging over the affair like a pall. Whatever is next there, it needs to happen quickly.

City not impressive at all I thought, the last three games they look ever so slightly off the boil, haven't seen odds but Inter worth a punt against yesterday's City

It's hard to say.....the heat, the fear of injury pending the "big one", the "Derby" nature of the game....City looked tight and cautious. On the night Vs Inter, they'll go for it, all out. There's no reason not to.

But....then again, if they're haunted by the memories of Portugal 3 years ago, and allow it to inspire another "tight" performance, who knows.

The old Kyle Walker or John stones might resurface. I can see Lukaku just get the better of Stones, just once. All it takes.

But United...United were so poor you have to wonder WHY City were so tight and rigid. My suspicion is they just wanted individually to avoid omission for the Inter game whether by way of injury or a duff performance.

    Anyways.... we'll find out shortly.

Brendan Rodgers current betting favourite. FML

Potter, Rafa, Knutsen from Bodo, Maresca, Clarke would all be appointments I could give the benefit of the doubt to- Rodgers can fuck off. Id take Lennon back before him

We've had some shitey luck here because i dont think Ange would have left this summer for any job beneath the rarified $uperleague-invitee level and its been a triple lightening strike of circumstances - Munn's city group links, his agent's apparent relationship with Levy, a string of first, second and third choice appointments turning Spurs down- thats led to him being offered this one. If there are 100 alternate realities out there i doubt this is happening in another one. Ange will relish the scale of the job/rebuild he's faced with and i dont begrudge him taking the chance
